I find 200mg works for,me but don't worry. You can't over dose as you just get the runs and it leaves your body VERY quickly.

I’ve tried Magnesium oil as it gets absorbed directly into the blood stream but found it too sticky. Currently, I’m taking Mag Citrate 150mg and hoping to increase slowly to 200mg. Citrate can behave as Bob suggests, so I’m careful!

There is a video of Dr Gupta’s recommending Mag Taurate from Amazon but almost as soon as it became popular, the price jumped ridiculously.

I take 800mg of magnesium citrate a day, sometimes 1000mg.

If you gradually increase your dose daily until it makes you overly loose and rushing to the loo, then take it back just a bit from there. That’ll be your dose. People are deficient by different amounts. There are people who take more than 2g(2000mg) a day.

However I’ve read that you could possibly do yourself harm over the 5000mg a day mark.

It has the added benefit of you never being constipated, which must do the digestive system good and reduce aggravation of the vagus nerve.

I would suggest you have periodic (say 6 monthly) tests of your level, Mg Red cell test through BioLab in London in the UK. Don't bother with the NHS/ GP test as it is not measuring the most important area. There is actually a test better than the RC one but It's not readily available in the UK.

I take one Solgar magnesium citrate every evening. I also have one teaspoon of black molasses in warm water, with a dash of lemon juice, every morning before breakfast.

I also try to ensure I have some magnesium rich foods every day, banana, avocado, almonds etc.
