Travel Insurance

I am feeling great. There is nothing of my health concerns to report since my Cryoablation 8 months ago. I decided it's time to take a trip and have booked for a cruise in Australian Waters. Insurance is hard to get for this though when declaring heart arrhythmia, I have got one quote, but its $466 in Aussie dollars, does anyone know of an Insurance Company who doesn't charge as much as this. Very surprised at the cost when I am not even suffering a small skipped beat. Thanks

if it's like some policies I have looked at, it may be because you have had treatment within the last year- hopefully it will be much better next year

Hi. I'm in the UK and cost of travel insurance is similarly high now that I have to declare the AF. I agree with RosyG it may be cheaper next year. Also it's good to shop around for insurance - I usually Google to compare travel insurance with existing medical conditions - as while it's still expensive whoever you go with, there's quite a variation between highest and lowest quotes. Enjoy your cruise 🚢

I've just got single trip for just me to Italy £8.08 for week and single trip for two for three weeks in Greece under £25 I think. No change in meds, no trips to A and E no treatments planned anticoagulated and have pacemaker. Just went on money supermarket looked for with medical conditions and took cheapest. Covered for AF BP and Cholestrol

I just had my Saga TI cancelled with 2 days to go because I declared 2 unexpected trips to hospital. I was not a happy bunny as I suddenly had to find 3rd party insurance. Thankfully a company I have used before offered me insurance at an extra cost of £3 - for cruising in Iceland.

Shop around, don't use internet comparison sites & always look for companies that specialise in covering people with medical conditions- I declare 3 - 1 of which is much more serious potentially than AF. You will not get annual, multi trip cover if anything like U.K.

You may get more info on Aussie stuff on the Aussie AFA site?

Sent from boat at anchor fiord in Iceland.

Happy travelling.

PS cost - £98

If you type travel insurance in search box top right of page there's a lot of info on there.

Many thanks to everyone, I have looked at the AF site here but it only suggests UK prices, which makes me think its absorbently high still. I have to ring a few today, which is Monday here, so might come up with a cheaper price. Iceland CDreamer sounds cold but beautiful. Heading up to the top of Queensland myself, and will be seeing my Grandchildren on a stopover, so cant complain and my health is the best its been for many years. (Still on my Fodmap Diet though), Its amazing that the Medical profession considers this condition to be of little importance compared to heart structure conditions, yet Insurance companies treat it as lethal.
