Tia and travel insurance

Hi there

Have recently needed travel insurance and when Tia is disclosed the premium goes right up. Anyone else had this and any particular company recommendations?

Thanks in advance (tia) couldn't resist!

I've just gone with Allclear after recommendations on here. Staysure were another recommendation. I've not had a TIA so can't comment on premium increase. We've all had to pay more for having AF though.

Take care with cover obviously as basic cover can be cheap, as with Allclear, but when you look at the detail it doesn't cover holiday cancellation etc, which is likely to be one of the main reasons for having the cover in the first place! We went for their Gold offering which includes everything.

We paid roughly £600 for two of us annual cover worldwide, my 67 with AF, wife 60 with no issues. Basic cover, which we didn't go for, was just over £400 p.a.

Hope you get sorted.

My sister recently got a good quote from Free Spirit. Saga was megabucks!

I use medisafe insurance, and I've also had a TIA. I find them very reasonable and cover is quite extensive too.

We used MIA insurance for my husband who has heart failure. They charged £360 for 2 months in Spain. I think they will cover for very serious and terminal conditions.

I use staysure. I have AF , oseoporosis and have had 3 TIAs I was also about to have a colonoscopy. They didnt seem to bother about the TIAs. Just kept checking I hadnt had a complete stroke. They were pleased I was on anticoagulants. The cover was just for A 1 week European cruise and was around £150.
