Good morning all. I recently had an unsuccessful cardioversion ( reverted to af after 11 hrs) I am due to go to Spain for a month in May. Although my insurance company are aware of my persistent AF I haven't informed them I have had a cardioversion. My question is .....do I need to inform them of the cardioversion? Thanks Roy

Hi Roy
Yes, if there is a claim it could be considered "material" information and they could refute any claim. I doubt they will be worried if they have already insured you for persistent AF
Be well
Ian
Yes Roy.....the insurance co will want to know if you have had any admissions relating to AF in the past 12 months anyhow and that usually includes visits ti A & E as well .
Incidentally, for anyone looking to insure at this time , I've found that All Clear was by far the best particularly for USA and Caribbean.
Sandra
Thanks Sandra
Hi. I use AXA PPP Health care. They informed me that as long as I was fit to travel (not travelling against a doctor's orders) then I am covered. They cover pre existing conditions.
Fearnie, make sure you have that in writing from AXA, they refused to pay out an accidental death policy on my late husband due to a blood pressure query. I unfortunately didn't have the funds to fight them. I have been told by a retired insurance underwriter that all insurance companies employ people to look for a way to get out of paying, don't give them one.
icklebud99 totally agree with your last sentence. Ensure absolutely everything is declared !
Not strictly relevant : I had car insurance with AXA. My car was 'written off' when driven into by a bigger car in a car park. I & my grown-up daughter saw the accident, as we were just leaving the car park, but too far away to alert the driver to the fact that his car was starting to make mincemeat of mine ! Spent months trying to get AXA to respond - & many phone calls (from London to, I seem to remember, their offices in South Wales). Eventually, after enormous & unnecessary aggravation, they sent me the write-off allowance (below £200, so hardly worth them wriggling so hard not to pay). At one point, I thought they must be going bankrupt, because of their attempts to avoid communicating. I would never do any type of insurance with them again, still less a medical insurance !
