Atrial tachichardia : Hello.i have... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Atrial tachichardia
Hello Esmi - I have had atrial tachycardia in short bursts as well as AFib and I have been taking 1.25mg Bisoprolol and 200mg Flecainide daily for two and a half years without too many problems. There are days when I feel more tired and breathless but I am happy to be so long free of symptoms.
It's good that you are free of symptoms too but are you concerned about side effects and is your heart rate now OK?
Hello Fivola.Thank you for your repley. My heart rate is ok now about 80 BM,my cardiologist told me tha i must have a holter from 6 month .I feel tird too,but as you say happy to be frre of symptoms. But i am afraid from side effects soo mutch
I have Atrial Tachycardia very occasionally but not nearly as high a HR as you, I don't take any meds as it rarely lasts more than a few hours and episodes are rare.
Flex is not a good drug to take long term as it can be toxic and effect liver and kidney function and my understanding is that it is a rhythm control drug rather than a rate control drug so I wonder why that may have been prescribed? Was it explained to you? I took Flec when I had Atrial Fibrillation so it could be to prevent the Tachycardia from developing into AF.
If I were you I think I would be posing those questions to my doctors.
I have been taking Flecainide for nearly 6 years. It controls my symptoms and with guidance from GP have halved my dose in the last three months ( I take it for paroxysmal AF).
Any drug can be bad if it doesn't suit you but if you are having regular checks any adverse effects SHOULD be picked up. I too had been told flec can have unwanted effects which is why I wanted to reduce but all rhythm control drugs can be a two edged sword I believe.
Hope things stay good for you

I had this condition. The only way I could get rid of it was with an ablation. I too would get up to 240-250 bpm and that would make me feel faint. The ablation worked for me and I don't have to take any medications. The ablation was not bad and the worst part of recovery for me was the headaches I had for weeks following the procedure. I was one of the one's that the doctor had to put a hole in my heart to get to the left atrium as well which is more dangerous and I heard online that many people who had that done had the headaches until the hole healed. The meds only worked moderately for me. I was having the tachycardia episodes almost daily so the surgery was worth it to me. Plus I hated the side effects the meds gave me. I took Flecainide before the ablation due to low blood pressure issues.
