Reason for previous post I am on Apixiban so can't use the usual creams/gels for pains, so would like to know what others use that are on anticoagulants, thanks.

Update to last post - I am taking Apixaban
Hi gemsmum - I take Apixaban and have taken prescribed co-codamol short term for toothache and paracetamol for a week after tooth extraction.
Heat and cold packs can help and depending on the cause, a knee support is useful too. I bought a super one from Amazon which has velcro fastenings and a hole for the kneecap - excellent for walking with sore ligaments.
Some posters have used NSAID gels very short term and in small amounts but I haven't tried any since starting Apixaban.
Hope you can get relief.
Thanks Finvola regarding the suggestion for a knee support, probably would have helped on Monday as I look after my grandson on Monday and Tuesday and was in a lot of pain for two days. I notice you are from NI, I was born there and lived there for 31 years until I met my husband who is from Lancashire, still visit and still love it, Heather
Yes, Heather, I love it too. I was born here, spent years travelling and working abroad but prefer the pace of life here. We have a Border Collie, so I sometimes use 2 knee supports - lol.
I use this one and it really helps.

That one is about the right price. A lot are advertised in full page press adverts for over £50.
Years ago a friend was down for knee surgery before getting one. He was concerned that he would have to cancel his Himalaya trek coming soon after the operation. He got the Kneed-it and cancelled the operation.
He still does two or three trekking holidays a year and hill walking every week. The pictures on his walking blog all show him with the Kneed-it.
I have a couple of the hot and cold packs.
I also have one of the packs where you click the disc in the liquid and that starts the reaction to release heat and then eventually it goes solid. To regenerate back to liquid for reuse boil in a pan for 5 to 10 mins.
Better still is the bag which I warm up in the microwave and then use. It's about 350mm long and about 100 wide.
Will try and remember to post more details later (I've just got into bath to relieve aches and pains!!!). Chase me tomorrow if I haven't responded.
BTW I don't actually use for knees as that is one thing that is Colin's at the moment, touch wood.
I am on Rivaroxaban and I take co-codamol and use Oruvail Gel (Ketoprofen based). Both prescribed by my GP and on my repeat prescipt. I need this for arthritic pain.

I am also on apixaban. I did not know you shouldn't use creams for joint pain? Are you taking about things like blue ice or the creams that heat up for about 30 minutes and are gone?
I'm in persistent AF and I'm on warfarin. I have prescriptions for Tylex (Co-codamol) and Solpadeine, as I occasionally get migraine and I also have arthritis in my spine. I feel the Tylex causes something in my chest (not sure what, but feels a bit like angina) so I only take it if pain is very bad.
