Did a reading today and got message unable to read anyone else had this my hb was 47bpm

I believe there are parameters below and above which it can't read. That said, mine frequently can't establish a reading of any sense I suspect because my fingers are dry and hard from working with metal. I lick them and it works --usually but then again I only ever use it once in a blue moon and then only to show people what it is.

Only got it two days ago my AF has been happening more often but only for a short time so got it so I can show doc don't want to get addicted to it thanks for your replies

interesting reply - a lot of people seem to be keen to get hold of one , but from your comment it seems not to be worth going to the expense of buying one and from others the worry of using or if it works properly.

Mine frequently gives that message. To be honest I have just about given up with it.

I'm pretty sure if your pulse rate is below a certain figure ( 50 something I think) then you won't get a reading. My pulse rate on medication is around the low fifties and I often don't get a read out. It is tempting to think something must be wrong but I wouldn't worry unduly unless you have other symptoms.

There is a manual you can download and it is worth reading to get the best out of it. As Bob says, doesn't register below 50 BPM.

My hb is normally between 45 50 but goes up a lot when in AF.

But it had quite long loops this morning

If you mean some spaces between the spikes were longer than others it sounds as though there are a few 'pauses', but not to worry if you feel OK. If you really mean loops you moved!

Try dampening your fingers and holding it VERY still with your wrists on a steady table.

Move away from plug sockets and electrical appliances and don't use while your phone is recharging. As Peter says, the manual is very useful.x

All the time, I have a flutter(part of my AF) which confuses the alivecor so it can't decide whether I'm in AF or not

I've had that response a few times, just try again and re- position self and/or phone/aliveCor. It has read my HB down to 48.

As with many things manufacturers give min and max but that is the guaranteed point so to speak and many things work just below and just above (or a lot in some devices).

Mine reads normal sinus rhythm ok, even if very slow say 45 bpm. And usually reads AF well, but just doesn't seem to recognise flutter very well, so usually returns an 'unable to classify' message. They are therefore only useful to a point.

I returned mine, had nothing but problems with it. I agree with Angiek useful to a point.

I am a new user - so far so good. I have been able to achieve readings in the < 50 bpm range. It is sometimes unable to classify a rhythm , but still records the ECG. I got mine at the suggestion of my EP who finds them useful in monitoring his patients. As long as he finds what I send him helpful, I'm all for it.

The same with my AliveCor. It always records a trace below 50bpm but doesn't offer an opinion as to whether or not I'm still in the land of the living!

The iheartrhythm.com/ might be worth a look. I got reprimanded by the doctor who invented the Alivecor when I mentioned this one before. I find it works well without the issues Alivecor seems to have but it is not as portable. Also you must use a Windows computer or have a Mac capable of using Windows software.

Looks interesting but I have already bought the alivecor. Can't afford both I have a windows computer as well as iPad But thank you for your reply
