Non-alcoholic drinks increasingly available

Warriors, Have you found any non-alcoholic drinks you like? I totally stopped social drinking summer of 2024 when I was in extreme pain from mPCA. Then continued not drinking anything due to diagnosis and treatment. So I drink low-sugar gatorade and Zevia gingerale (sweeted w stevia). I take my drinks with me if I go to a friends house.

I found a "UPSIDE Dawn" golden ale by Athletic Brewing that I like and its available at Food Lion grocery store among other stores and only 45 calories. Surprised when my wife found a non Alcoholic Rose by another company Wolffer called "Spring in a bottle". Apparently many young people (and pregnant women) are turning away from alcohol and hosting "mocktail club", alcohol free parties. Others are turning to alternative hemp-infused drinks.

I just learned about this "Adult Non Alcoholic Beverage Association (ANBA)" and thought their site might interest you too.

I heard Bold Rock Cider has one that is non-alcoholic but haven't found it in stores yet.

They write "....celebrating the mindful drinking and sober-curious movement. Inclusive and welcomes both those who have stopped drinking and those exploring their relationship with alcohol.

We will serve craft mocktails. Anahata Sabat, a leader in non-alcoholic mixology, will showcase premium wines, spirits, bitters, and tinctures that elevate the experience.....

..Redefining what celebration looks like... make MINDFUL drinking not just accepted but celebrated. Through Herb & Orchid, Knox is building more than a beverage brand—she’s leading a cultural shift rooted in joy, inclusion, and intentional living.

Keep trying NEW things til you find something that works for you.

The Athletic brews are the best tasting non-alcoholic beer I’ve tried. They’re not bad. Not great and not much variety but they are quaffable. What I find odd is the mouth feel of them. They just feel thin to me. Low viscosity or something.

Yeah, the mouth feel is all wrong in non-alcoholic beer. I also find the balance is out of whack, mostly overly sweet: too malted and the hop bitterness does not balance it, something important is missing. The french have a word "écoeurant" which is tricky to translate but it means you really don't want to finish the bottle.

I guess I've tried upwards of two dozen non alcoholic beers. Belgium has a lot of very good brewers and they are trying to appeal to younger people who drink less, but I have not found one that I like.

I've given up looking for food/drinks trying to imitate others. Drinks I can recommend are water kefir and kamboucha. Ginger beer can be good as well but is not usually zero alcohol.

I'll look for low alcohol cider as suggested above, I never thought of that.

Guinness zero. Almost a perfect copy of Guinness alcohol

Yes, very good but goes flat quickly.

Works great for me. My absolute favorite especially when certain foods just beg for a beer. Many of the lighter NA beers are just fine. Not really good beers but very good soft drinks☺️. The Athletic NA beers seem too much like IPAs for me but tolerable.

My husband drinks this and loves it. He will “zebra stripe” with the real thing, sometimes. Also, the fact that it’s less fizzy helps with bladder irritation on his post-surgery, post-radiation bladder.

Canada Dry ginger ale seems to be the only soft drink that I can actually taste.

I have chronic dry mouth from ADT that has roasted my taste buds. Nothing tastes like it should to me. Pluvicto seems to have made it a lot worse

If I want an alcoholic drink I add some Irish whiskey to the ginger ale. Honestly though, ever since I finished chemo last year, I haven’t really had the taste for beer/wine/booze.

I do occasionally sip a decent high proof bourbon, either neat or we whip up an old fashioned. But honestly, I could take it or leave it.

I tell my son that “good whiskey is wasted on me” since I can’t really taste it.

P.S. I love electric light orchestra too!!

My vote goes to Guinness 0 as well. I was amazed the first time I had it. The total experience is pretty close to a can of the black stuff. Our social network includes a LOT of Irish-American and Irish people. Several of our most-frequented pubs offer it now. This goes for both ChicagoLand and Southern New England friends. Including music performers who have chosen to be more mindful of drinking on the job, then having to drive home.

I'm also a fan of several BrewDog no-alcs. While not exactly a fab craft brew, they are quite refreshing. Also very low calories. 20 or so. Hope that helps!

I'm also a Heineken Zero and Guinness Zero fan...Taste buds on me have never been great, so I don't really notice the difference...3 years no alcohol now, so a good cold NA beer is fine by me....I think the NA choices are growing !!!

My fav is Heineken zero. Cannot tell the difference between that and regular, especially when I am eating. There are many good zero beers out there. They used to really be bad but surprised me.

I haven't had an alcoholic drink in years but my choice now is Athletic Free Wave. Had 2 back to back and needed a designated driver. .5% alcohol gave me a buzz

There's always THC infused non-alcoholic "cannabis cocktails". Quite expensive though

I have found all of the non-alcoholic beers very good. Alcohol varies from 0.5% to zero. There are lots of them now. Alas, have not yet become a tee-totaler, but it could definitely happen. Good on you for being able to put it behind you.

In June it will be 36 years without alcohol. I agree that the Heineken Zero tastes good. But at all of the 3+ hours parties that I've been to over those 36 years, the most that I ever drink is 2 zeros - not the same as my days with regular beers. I'm 75.
