Took my dad to the oncologist last week. Extensive growth in metastasis. Gave him 4-6 months with no treatment. Dad can’t walk due to cancer in spine. Potentially getting radiation so he can walk. He has failed: Zytiga, Docetaxel, Pluvicto, and Cabazitaxel. No genetic mutations. I found a new study on combining Xtandi with Talzenna regardless of mutation status.

I fucking hate cancer. I am in panic mode thinking about his impending death. And then worrying for my mom. My brother disowned our family so I’m all alone. This just plain sucks.

I am sorry

We are all in same boat

- Can he do Xofigo (radium Ra 223 dichloride) ?

- Can he participate any clinical trials ?

What's his PSA and ALP?

Have you took second opinion ?

He can try Xofigo but his numbers need to recover from chemo.

PSA was like 130.

Do you have kidney doctor who can help you to increase all numbers and enroll him in clinical trials ? I had high creatine and low hemoglobin and my dr started multiple infusion and bring all level up so I can get enrolled in clinical trials

Following this thread as my father is trending the same... failed Zytiga, Xtandi, Jevtana, Pluvicto, looking to do Xofigo next but my father just had a blood transfusion after a 6.7 Hemoglobin level with low Platelet counts as well... so worried about Xofigo bringing down the Hemoglobin level even further..

do you have any personal experience with this trial? Wondering if my father can find benefit from this after failing most treatment options at this point

This is a phase III trial so Merck expects that it works. From what I read, it will work, but it has side effects.

Hopefully you've looked into palliative care and hospice. Keep him comfortable, be there for him, that's probably all you can do.

Call BAMF Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan: (BAMF = Bold Advanced Medical Future). Also, do a search on YouTube for Thomas Seyfried PhD. He has many videos on YouTube that explain how to starve cancer. Have you heard about Dr. Makis and the success that he's been reporting on?

If it's not in his liver, he can still try Xofigo.

The Talapro-2 trial showed only a small reduction in mortality (13%) in men who were not HRR-deficient, and the trial did not include men who were already treated with an ARPi. Talzenna has some very serious side effects.

Thank you. The doctor said they could but his numbers needed to recover after the chemo

Mine is just a curiosity, we know that it is better not to take xovigo if there are metastases in soft tissues such as the liver, but if there are large lymph node metastases is it advisable to use it?

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply tosperanza10

It only kills cancer in bone, so if all your metastases are lymph nodes it is useless.

I know that radiotherapy only works for bones. Sorry, maybe I explained myself badly, I meant in a patient with bone metastases and extensive lymph node metastases. I asked you that question because some time ago I spoke with an oncologist who claims that it makes sense to do radiotherapy only and exclusively in patients who have bone metastases only, while in those who have bones + lymph nodes it is better not to do it. So the question is, does it make sense to do radiotherapy in a patient who has bone metastases and extensive lymph node metastases?

I clearly meant xofigo

If there are a lot of lymph node metastases in addition to bone metastases, my first choice of radiopharmaceuticals would be one that targets all or most cancer cells, not just bone. So far, only Pluvicto is in that category.

We all fucking hate Ca too. As far as your brother is concerned he will have to live with the guilt of not joining the family for at least you dear Father's sake. You can pick your friends but you can't pick you family. May good vibes follow you and your Dad.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

My father went through similar path in the 90s without the fractures. Sad times for our family then and now I am going through the same but holding on. My children hate cancer like you.

Easy to say but focus on good things and good memories. Spend the most time and be comforted in those memories.

Have you asked him what he wants to do? You want to keep pushing for more time which I understand but what does he really want? How about your mom?
