Hi! I have been treated my prostate with radiation therapy. After 6 month it started bleeding in duodenum. Have tried hyperbaric oxygen treatment without success. Have also tried Prednisolone and it works in high doses but when trying to reduce the dose it starts bleeding again.
Has anybody experienced this? ANT suggestions?
Thanks!

The duodenum is far from the prostate. Radiation of the prostate can sometimes cause irritation of the rectum which is next to the prostate, but cannot affect the duodenum which is at the end of the stomach many inches away.
Where were these other metastasis that got radiated? Were they in the upper pelvis, ribs or spine? Also what form of radiation was used IMRT, SBRT or something else?
That explains it. I had not realized radiating bone mets could do that.
I have been on Prednisone for 4.5 years and had lots of horrible side effects because of it. I am so please it has been stopped but still suffering withdrawal symptoms. It drove my thyroid crazy and that resulted in lots of mobility problems, joint and muscle pain.
I have used prednisone now for 6 month and still bleeding. As soon as I try to reduce the dose it starts bleeding again. I hope I can quit it soon. How many mg per day did you take? I have now heard that treatment with Formalin could solve the problem. Have you heard anything about that?
Hi Are you using anything that might thin your blood or combinations of meds that may cause anti clotting? Also know that radiation does and can burn tissue after treatment and may not be noted post treatment. Radiation like chemo are drugs that have adverse affects on different patients, Rads are Very high frequency rays, and chemo again does cause vibration because Chem are in a state of vibration, you know, liquid, gas and solid, They all vibrate at specific frequency, that's scientific fact bro. Look into wether you got burned which could create a wound internally or if you possibly got knicked of they did exploring on your duodenum or any other area in your bowel or higher intestine. Not saying they did something wrong just that is a sensitive area and if they had to poke around that could be why your bleeding, also you could have a strain and tore some of the fibers in the muscle there. All in all ask questions bro, don't be afraid it's Your life and you're the one suffering, so go get this answers my friend, be well. Hope this helps

My friend just did a Lil research on that and YES you can get burned on the soft tissue areas which can create a wound that is difficult to detect, so go get em Tiger and find out if that's the case, you did not be bleeding 6 months post treatment. Cheers again
I received several hyperbaric chamber treatments providing 100% oxygen under pressure for post-radiation effects to bladder. I sudddenly began bleeding badly and the cystoscopy showed radiation scarring and irritation. After about 10 sessions, the bleeding stopped and has not returned. I do know if this would be applicable or helpful in your case but thought I’d mention. All the best.
Thank you for letting me know. I have also tried hyperbaric oxygen treatment, totally 40 sessions during 2 months, unfortunately without success. I have heard about treatment with Formalin, perhaps somebody experienced this?
I also experience blood in the stool or small amounts of fresh blood spotting. I was checked with a colonoscopy that confirmed rectal proctitis. It is a chronic condition but after three years I’ve noticed that the condition can stop for several days or weeks. It still comes back depending on my health. I try to keep to a high fibre diet that makes defecating easy and avoid excess alcohol. I also excercise daily. I understand that some of us are more prone to post radiation tissue damage than others. There is a test for that now which will allow the oncologist to administer dosage accordingy. Meanwhile, I am just happy to be alive.
Any chance you have a separate medical issue -- celiac disease? With that disease gluten (wheat) intolerance can damage the duodenum. Have you had an endoscopy to look at the duodenum?
I think the best person to clarify this is your Radiation Oncologist. Duodenal toxicity by SBRT in bone lesions would be very rare and unlikely given the precision of SBRT and the distance of the duodenum in relation to the bones.
