Has anyone tried acupuncture to alleviate hot flashes due to androgen deprivation therapy. The doctor suggested it to my husband on the last visit. They have been becoming more bothersome and he is thinking of trying some sessions. Just wondering if anyone had tried acupuncture and how often did you go for treatments?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I was having severe (changing clothing) hot flashes. I had tried all the usual treatments to no avail. Then started Acupuncture. It was working great at a very well respected local Chinese place. I then went on a 3 week European holiday, came back and it didn't take on the second time around.
I would totally say to try it. I ended up going on Veozah which has worked great! 95% of the flashes are gone.
I tried it and was optimistic after the first two or three session. Ultimately, I don't think it helped me, but I have talked to others he swear by it. Hope it works for your husband!
Memorial Sloan Kettering did a survey of its PCa patients and found that two thirds benefited from acupuncture while one third did not. So, worth a try.
This may seem like a weird post but at least in our case acupuncture had a very positive approach to pain relief in cancer.
I have owned, trained and competed in numerous dog sports for over 50 years. With two of my dogs over when they were diagnosed with cancer they were treated with traditional meds and acupuncture for pain relief.
Although not a curative cancer treatment the acupuncture did improve their QOL until it was time to do the humane thing and let them be pain free. There was no pain or fear from the acupuncture needles. I would take them weekly for their acupuncture treatment.
Based on this experience I would not hesitate to have it done on me. Hope this helps.
I had really bad hot sweats for months, I did mention on here many times, somebody suggested Ashwagandha! I've been on it for 3 months, I can honestly say I haven't had hot sweats, especially of a night!! Purchased from (amazon)
