Hot Flashes and Veozah

I am 19 months into my 2 years on ADT + Zytiga & P. 6 months into it, I started experiencing severe hot flashes. Severe = Full body sweats, dripping off my brow, palms wet and needing to mop it off my chest or change my shirt. Every 1 -2 hours. I tried 4 antidepressants that didn't work. I then started Acupuncture, this was most effective until I took a 3 week holiday overseas. When I started back, it didn't seem to have the same effect.

I then decided to try Veozah. It's been life changing. My HFs are down by more than 90%. I no longer carry a bunch of handkerchiefs with me and don't always need to know where my portable fan is. The only downside is the cost as it is not covered by insurance as it has not approved for use by men for hot flashes. It's $570/month. I started thinking that if I woke up every day and was asked to pay $18 to Not have hot flashes all day and night, would I do it? Heck yes!

I live in AZ so most every day is hot so flashes are just part of living here hahaha. I mitigated the hot flashes with working out at gym 5 days a week. Haven't had one in ages

Yes, working out is a must while on ADT. I’ve been a regular at the gym 3-4 days a week. Was also doing a fast 4 miles walk every morning until my knee balked. I’m have a full knee replacement in just over a week!

Good luck with the knee replacement, I need two but have been putting off for last couple years, guess time to look at getting it done

I am having the newest version of the surgery - Quad Sparing. The standard procedure has the big zipper you see on folks that goes 10" down the middle of the leg, they cut the quad muscle and tendon resulting in all that soft tissue damage that needs to heal. In Quad Sparing, they make a 4" incision on the inside of the knee, move the quad and patella out off to the side and do the surgery. the same attachments are used. It's a lot more technical and takes longer but recovery is much quicker. I'll find out soon!

Any side noticeable side effects?Jim's MO doesnt want to prescribe it due to the lack of clinical trials on men doing ADT HT. I think its merely FDA red tape and could sure be helping a lot of men NOW. Would like to see if his pcp would prescribe it.

I haven’t noticed anything. I know they say to watch the liver numbers which I’m doing anyway.

wow, delighted for you. I’m in the UK and approval for NHS use is pending. All about cost benefit so no guarantee. HF really get me down and make wonder whether the quality of life test has been breached.

20mg Megace worked exceptionally well for me. Inexpensive and covered.

I’m so happy to hear you found something that works for you. I like you suffer from extreme severe hot flashes that zeros out any quality of life for me. I was excited to try veozah and had no problem getting it covered by insurance. (It’s medically necessary). Unfortunately for me it did not provide the much anticipated results I was looking for. To date the only thing that works for me is estradiol gel. I also get the added bonus of a little limbido. :)

I was wondering if this woman's HF drug would help men on Eligard. Glad it worked for you.I could not afford $6,840 per year.

Per drug prices in America, very sad. It's all about the money. Many politicians are on the take from Big Pharma lobbyist. Thank God, Jonas Salk did not get a patent for polio vaccine back then. The capitalistic greed in medicine must be stopped.

Good to hear your success with Veozah- my MO prescribed venlaxafine and with keeping up gym activity, it works for me.

We really need a clinical trial on men with PC on ADT to see if it proves effective on men. Hopefully that gets done, but I have no idea if any are in progress or planned.

Try estradoil patch .01mg change every 3 days. Cost about $30 month with GoodRx.

Only thing that ever really worked for me, plus good for bone health.
