Tall Allen won't like this but now even Phase 2 trials are showing positive results!

Mushroom Phase 2 Trials
Very interesting & thanks for sharing. Eating as a whole food and cooked is best. We’re going to have them a lot more now!
Looks like terrific news for mice with prostate cancer. No harm in eating white button mushrooms though I suppose.
Great with garlic and butter and a nice bit of salt.
🙂
I think a supplement is needed to get the benefit. I would like to know if this is an existing readily available supplement or specialy made for this trial.
I'd assume it would be made specifically for the trial so they can regulate it. Otherwise you'd have potential inconsistencies with measuring/quantities/compliance etc.I looked into WBM a while back. I think getting it in powder form is probably your best shot.
The best one I found at the time was Pistol River. Maybe there's better ones now.
The clinical trial was done on men (not mice):
The researchers profiled blood draws from some of the men participating in City of Hope’s phase 2 clinical trial. The men were under active surveillance as they took white button mushroom supplements. Focusing on eight participants’ samples before and after three months of white button mushroom treatment, the scientists found that there were less tumor-creating MDSCs and more anti-tumor T and natural killer cells, suggesting white button mushroom rebuilds anti-cancer immune defense and slows cancer growth.
Yeah, the thing is, lets ignore that this was for men who weren't at the advanced stage for a moment, but what result do you actually see from this trial? What is it that convinces you that taking WBM will give you benefits?
There's certainly nothing in there to suggest NOT taking them, but what's in there that stands out as some sort of evidense?
Maybe I can't see it but its all great data for mice. But nothing I can see that shows anything tangible. If i speed read it right, there were 13 out of 36 on the trial 10 years ago who saw some significance.... and I haven't heard of anything else for 10 years. Doesn't suggest Amy groundbreaking results.
I haven't studied this under a microscope or anything, so it's quite possible missed it.
Not that I'm against people taking WBMs or their supplements. If you think you're going to benefit, got for it!
If they're that good must be magic mushrooms LOL
Of course I am hopeful that Phase 2 trials pan out. But you misread that press release - they will be conducting Phase 2 trials. You seem to think they already have been conducted. Most Phase 2 trials fail to show a benefit, and even if they do, 95% fail in Phase 3. No harm in eating mushrooms.
Well I'm confused. Not that it takes much these days mind you.
I read:
We performed bidirectional translational research to examine the immunomodulatory effects of WBM consumption in both syngeneic murine PCa models and patients with PCa participating in an ongoing randomised Phase II trial (NCT04519879).
Is this referring to the phase 1 trial but it's on going?
I just read it real quick so I could have it all wrong.
🤷♂️
They are recruiting for the Phase 2 trial and plan to have results Oct 2025:
clinicaltrials.gov/study/NC...
They did some preliminary studies in mice and 8 men and found that there is some immune modulatory effect, which many things have. Prostate Cancer is notorious for being "cold" to immune effects, so that is not an important finding. The primary objective is to delay the increase in PSA. We will know in a year.
You know, reading some replies on this brought back some real bad memories for me.
When my dad was having issues with side effects in his late stages, I would get extremely impatient with some things he did, As time went on, it was just one thing after another.
I was talking to him one day, and he was having trouble talking. Had to keep stopping and had extreme trouble swallowing. My attitude back then was 'what now?' He had developed dysphagia on top of everything else. I remember being so frustrated but he just brushed it off like it was nothing. I was thinking how on earth can you not swallow?
Well as fate would have it, I got a taste of that ONE thing. I got an accute case of it for about 2 weeks....luckily It was simply horrific. It was at that moment I realized out of all the horrible things that happend to him, his most 'insignificant' issue was a complete nightmare for me. I felt this moment of complete shame and if I'm honest I stil have that to this day.
What I did after this was reflect on the times that I disagreed with his approach to treatments. I've now come to realize, that however silly or out of the box they were to me, they weren't to him. I regret not seeing that at the time. It taught me to try to be more respectful even when I knew I was right.
This disease brings out the bad side of things from literally every angle. Its incredible stress. Its something you have to live through to appreciate. To me you can't explain it. I think its worth saying that I believe peoples intentions are all for the good.
Even though sometimes they can be viewed differently, and things can get heated. I still appreciate the effort.
If we only had a time machine to take us back in time. There were many times that we didn't realize what our parents who are gone now were going through. Now we do, and we feel guilty and sad and wish we could tell them we're sorry, hug them, kiss them and cry. So the next time you pray go back in time with your heart and mind's time machine and tell them you love them.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Since receiving an ileostomy mushrooms and spinach have been on an extensive banned food list (fear of blockage). Miss my morning omelet with spinach and mushrooms. Coincidentally my bicalutamide mono therapy stopped working. While trying to find next gen methods to beat back my rising PSA I’ll try White Button Mushroom extract pills. Don’t think it can hurt. Thanks for the info.
TA will not dispute if it is a well carried out study…..dont be small minded
Pan-fried in butter with shallots!
Hope you are taking statins for the saturated fat in your diet there's another 20 replies to add on ha ha
A lot less insulin resistance with fat than with carbs or sugar. Just sayin'. Not that I am adhering to a Keto diet which would benefit me.
