SBRT at 12,000 cGy in two sessions?

I have been off ADT for over two years. Testosterone was up to 324 last month, while my PSA has slowly gone up from undetectable to 9.06 during that same time. My recent PSMA shows uptake in the R sacrum sclerotic lesion concerning for metastasis, as the only site beyond the prostate. Dr. Kirschner the Vanderbilt Radiation Oncologist suggests focal radiotherapy to the R sacrum. He offers a two session regimen of approximately 24Gy total dose, with each treatment a week apart. We prefer this two visit approach to the normal, 4,000cGy in 5 sessions, in that the traffic in and out of Nashville is very heavy and my wife and I are in ours mid 80's and we wish to avoid the heavy traffic during the long hour drive. I would like to hear from our members about side effects and dangers of high dose radiation. The good Doctors say that I should expect fatigue and GI upset.

Thanks Bill Weismann

You will probably have temporary pain from inflammation. NSAIDs should be enough.

Traffic in Nashville? You ain't seen traffic until you drive in Manhattan( NYC)...I'm 88 and I drive to and from MSKcc in Manhattan from Queens at least twice a month....Keep your eye on the road and your hand on your horn.....

Hi j-o-h-n, Everyone in Tennessee drives at 80MPH, until it stops. I grew up on Southern California freeways. Nashville traffic is the worse, and at 87 my reflex's and vision is not as good, plus when it rains it pours and I can't see anything. Nice hearing from you. Cheers Bill Weismann

You went from the frying pan into the fire....Reflexes? What's that? My brake pedal is my new vision. Driving with just 9 fingers is definitely a chore. They say you can tame the beast.... but not when he's driving.... So I wish you a clear road ahead, in driving and with your health. Regards.....
