Quick question about Provenge and PSA.

My first PSA reading after finishing Provenge on 9/23 was 2.72 on 10/2.

The last PSA reading just before Provenge began was 1.88 on 9/5. It had been at that level since around June 1 over four readings.

Any possibility that Provenge can cause a rise (temporary or otherwise) in PSA? If so, I haven't read that.

I'll be meeting with the doctor whose clinic I used for Provenge on Tuesday, 10/8, but wanted to get feedback here before the meeting.

it could be that your immune cells are killing the cancer cells and spewing it’s antigens throughout. I had a psa bounce 4 days after starting darolutamide a couple years ago.

Let's hope that's it. I wasn't certain what to expect.

How are the side effects?

Not much at all other than after second re-infusion. Maybe a little less energy, but hard to be sure.

That’s excellent! Good luck

Provenge is known to have no effect on PSA.

That was my understanding. So we'll see where it goes.

What is it’s purpose and who qualifies for it?

It's an immunotherapy. If you are metastatic and ADT has ceased to work completely, you're qualified.

It extends survival. For mCRPC.

We just got off of a zoom meeting with Dr. Aggarwal ….

I am pretty discouraged with our conversation.

Because WE ASKED…. He said after cancer becomes metastatic …( my husband’s in the “para aortic abdominal region) Nothing has shown up elsewhere yet. And we are in year 7.

Stats say 12-24 months is the avg time left of life.

Of course he said that was an average.

It seems that isn’t the avg of folks on this forum.

My husband is 15 years with the same nodes only at the same area. So there is hope.
