I am 78. In 2010 I had Brachytherapy and for 10 years there was no problem. In Dec 2021 my PSA rose unexpectedly to 3.8 and a petscan revealed a prostate cancer on an adjacent lymph node. It was treated with intensive beam therapy. Today Oct 2024 my blood test indicated a rose as above to 1.71.The test results mentioned "borderline" and recommended I talk to my doctor (whoever he is these days!!!)
Any comments will be useful & gratefully received

In reference to your question, there appears to be a split between ROs on whether to treat the whole prostrate for possible potential of micro cancer spread. For example my RO treated the prostrate and the whole pelvic area at the same time. Some other RO would not have done that.
Get a PSMA scan done to determine what the source of the PSA rise is, from there you can opt for SBRT and ADT or additional ADT, you don’t mention if you’re receiving any form of ADT. My opinion, but I’m not a doctor just an experienced patient.
The hospital phoned yesterday and said they would book me in for CT scan to try & determine if there is any evidence around the liver the kidney etc and to take matters further as necessary. They said 1.71 seems om for a person of my age 78 but I did mention I was concerned about the 100% increase since March!!
