Keytruda for prostrate cancer.

Had my prostrate removed, psa went up, had radiation, psa went up, went on eleguard, psa kept going up, tried erleada, did nothing, psa kept going up, now at 25, also found a tumor on bladder outside wall. Oncologist wid a blood test and it showed that keytruda might work. After 1 infusion, psa went down to 0.07, still on keytruda for 6 months every 3 weeks, psa is at 0.04. I am trying to find others that are taking keytruda for there prostrate cancer. So far I can't find anyone to compare notes with. God bless you all.

Worked great for my husband. He was only able to get one infusion due to side effects, but his cancer has been undetectable since that one infusion two years ago. Please read profile for details. I hope it keeps working for you!

My husband had Keytruda as a "hail Mary pass" five years ago when there were no other treatments left for his nodes only mPCa. He is approaching his 5th anniversary of being undetectable.

He has serious side effects. The first to appear forced a 4 month hiatus of treatment while the correct levels of hydrocortisone and levothyroxine were determined by an endocrinologist. Keytruda often will destroy the signaling pathway between the pituitary gland and the adrenal and thyroid glands. Untreated, this landed him in the ER.

The next side effect did not appear until a few months after the 2 year Keytruda trial was completed: "ulcerative colitis of autoimmune origin" which is now controlled by medication. That was an 18 day stay in hospital and a long rehab at home.

The biggest problem is administering a hydrocortisone shot whenever he gets a fever (Covid) or allergy attack before calling 911.

Keytruda has worked so far for my husband. He was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in 2015: PSA over 300 with several bone mets. Over the years he received doxatel, lupron, radiation and xtandi. The treatments would work for a while but the cancer would always return. 3 years ago, the oncologist did a genetic test on a biopsy from the prostate and it showed that there was a high tumor mutation burden and suggested keytruda - even though it isn’t used often against prostate cancer. His PSA went down after 1 or 2 treatments. Unfortunately, after 6 months of Keytruda treatments he became a diabetic because he had the very rare side effect of an autoimmune reaction which attacked the pancreas. The keytruda treatments were stopped. The diabetes is under control with insulin and he still receives eliguard. I waited a few days to post this for the latest PSA results which were undetectable. The Dr says that he is in uncharted territory- but so far, so good - hoping the treatment continues to work for him. Good luck to you
