Keytruda

I am starting Keytruda on 17 March. I have discontinued Pluvarco. The MO has said that I now have prostrate cancer of the liver. He said that it is spreading and Pluvecto is not doing any good. The chances of Keytruda slowing it down has a 25 to 30% chance. Other than that my timeframe seems to be limited to six months. Any discussion from people that have had Keytruda and types of side effects. would be very much appreciated.

My husband had one Keytruda infusion and it worked a miracle. He had to stop after the first infusion because he developed both thyroid and adrenal gland issues, but the cancer has been undetectable since that first infusion. My husband is MSI-High so that is probably why it worked so well. You can read my other posts for more detail. The doctor said that when the cancer starts growing again she will have him restart Keytruda but will pre-medicate him first . The thyroid and adrenal gland issues have been resolved with medication so we are both pretty happy with the results. Hope it works this well for you.

Know someone who as a last resort is taking Fenbendazole and it seems to be keeping things under control

My husband turned out to be a super responder. He was on Keytruda for the equivalent of two years. After three months of treatment, he had to take a couple months break while the adrenal and thyroid issues were addressed (tweaking the dosage of the levothyroxine and hydrocortisone). After he completed the trial, he started having diarrhea and did not report the traces of blood to the doctors for several months (until he filled the toilet bowl with blood). It took several months for the doctors to reach the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis of immune origin. Attempts to control the problem with medications landed him in the hospital in shock for 18 days. It was a close call that is taking at least 9 months to reach a new "normal" as he now has worsened cognition. He has regained the 60 lbs. that he lost from all that diarrhea, but not the memories. He does not drive any more, which is good because now when we go for a drive around the city that he had known for 56 years, he doesn't know where he is.
