The real question is why high dose pred? What on earth is the justification???? The side effects of 60mg pred are serious and I find it hard to conceive of any therapeutic benefit.
What am I missing here??
Prednisone can also be used to manage other kidney disorders, including:
Focal glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
Minimal change disease (MCD)
IGA nephropathy
These conditions can lead to nephrotic syndrome. As a result, large amounts of protein leaks into the urine. This in turn reduces the amount of protein in your blood, known as proteinuria. Prednisone is used to help lower proteinuria in these disorders.
Obviously the doctor is on the right path and the 60 mg is required.
I see my kidney doctor in a couple weeks and will ask about this procedure. My kidneys are almost restored to full function.
My doctor is impressed with my recovery.
Thank you Jesus!!
How long it took recover fully?
It’s a blessing in the works, I was 2 points away from dialysis and my doctor was discussing the 2 options for dialysis. 3 month reviews. For one my kidneys weren’t diseased but damaged from the PC spreading upward above my groin and in and around the Ureaters and cloaking off the urine flow. 100% blockage and emergency procedures to access and drain the kidneys with tubes inserted into my back. 7 months later and my Urologist says the tubes are coming out and my tumors in and around the Ureaters have shrunk down to almost non existent. He will put a stint in the left side for insurance. The right side is doing very well. I thought there was medication for kidney damage and doctor said no such thing. The body’s job is to heal kidneys. The master physician is doing a great job.
I’m rejoicing
I am well aware of the therapeutic uses of steroids in immunological kidney disease. Hence my question what (info) am I missing here.? Kidney damage can mean anything from obstructive uropathy, malignant infiltration, immune disorders to traumatic damage. So without the indication being given it sounded rather odd.
