Hi! Since the day I started Abiraterone+prednisone my incontinence became worse. I had heard from someone that they take their prednisone in the evening and have had some better results - can anyone here weigh in on this?
I took my prednisone very late last night, and had no insomnia worse than what I have anyway...

Hi. DxT3b m0 n0 Dec 2014, Gleason 9. Main treatment was Casodex (see profile). I started Zytiga 1000 and Prednisolone 5mg in Jan 2022. My continence had not been great but has deteriorated since beginning this latest medication. Hot flushes also. I know locations of every public toilet in town! Rather than pile on more medication to counter this, I prefer to live with it and stay focused on the bigger objective which is survival. Anyway you’re not alone with this issue.
Ah - someone with the same issue! I have switched my prednisone to just after dinner. Sleep is a little weird - I wake very quickly, pee and go back to sleep for about 2 hours at a time. But, my continence has improved greatly!
I checked the list of possible side effects of Prednisone. Loads of them but not incontinence. But if moving Prednisone to just before dinner works for you, great. Good luck !
Not incontinence, but frequent and urgent urination according to mayo documents. Since I'm already incontinent, that translates into more of a problem for me
I took Zytiga and Prednisone from Oct,2020 to Aug,2021 when the Zytiga stopped working. No incontinence. Initially took Prednisone in the morning but had back pain that kept me awake at night. Switched to taking Prednisone at dinner time and the back pain was fine at night and mild during the day which was fine.
I'll have to watch for back pain - a major problem for me. I see a PT who has me doing some pelvic floor exercises that also help my back a lot. I have switched to evening prednisone and find that my incontinence is much better this way.
What was the signal that zytiga had stopped working for you?
This is not really up my alley (I still have prostate, no surgery or radiation because of being fully metastasized at dx).But seeing so many brothers here commenting I wonder if the symptoms of incontinence from prostatectomy just took a couple months to show up on you.
More so others can help: Are you leaking?--- or unable to fully empty your bladder?
Well, the incontinence has been with me since the prostatectomy 4 months ago, but took a severe turn for the worse the day I started the prednisone and abiraterone. It also took a turn for the better, the day I switched the Prednisone to the evening
