Nubeqa vs Zytiga?

Hi all, got notice last evening that Nubeqa will no longer be covered by my drug provider.

Apologies I should have said this in original post: What happened is Nova Scotia just in February approved Nubeqa, this then means that I would have to apply for my insurance to cover it INSTEAD of the compassion coverage I was getting through Bayer themselves.

So, I did this and Blue Cross denied my request. But, I was just speaking with DART folks (who are awesome btw) and they told me to not worry. I will submit now to provincial drug plan (NS Pharmacare) and should be approved for some aide, whatever is not covered by this plan the DART program (basically Bayer) will cover the rest so I "should" not have to pay anything out of pocket.

This is what my Blue Cross letter says:

"Nubeqa will only be considered for reimbursement for the indication of MCSPC when the patient is contraindicated or had intolerance to a trial of abiraterone without disease progression"

...as you might recall I posted only yesterday some good news about latest PSA #s etc and this regimen seems to going good so I sure dont want to switch drugs.

Anyone had to switch from Nubeqa (darolutamide) to Zytiga (abiraterone) and how was that?

Thanks so much

Have your doctor office reach out to Bayer for them to cover it for you! You just need to fill out an easy form.

I'll look into this. Bayer has been covering it for months now - I really don't know what changed

oh good! I was told that Bayer won’t drop you if you are already getting it. We had to call and renew it ten days before we ran out. Are you the same? Bayer was always very kind to talk to!

I didnt have to call anyong - I would get a text from drug store and reply REFILL and it all went well. Do you have a contact # for Bayer for this reason?

There are also enzalutamide and apalutamide. One thing with Zytiga is it is taken in conjunction with a steroid. Can your doctor argue with your provincial health the continuity of care since your body is responding to Nubeqa?

If you're already on the Bayer patient assistance program, then you may have run out of refills (check your pill bottle). If so, call your MO and get the doc to put in a new order to Bayer. If you're not on it, go on line and apply. If you qualify Bayer will send you Nubeqa monthly through their pharmacy for free.

Thanks for reply. My bottle says 4 refills left.
