3 Abiraterone tabs in place of 4.

Some time back I posted that my MO had told me to take 3 Abiraterone tablets with 5 mg Prednisone daily instead of 4 to help with an out of control Blood Pressure problem.

I was worried (as were some of the responses) that this could impact the ADT therapy.

Recently had blood work done that showed my PSA has moved from 0.04 to <0,04 and the Testosterone had not moved from the <7.00 ng/dl.

So with this small sample of results there were really no change in ADT effectiveness. I will add that I was on the 4 tablets for about 5 months prior to moving to the 3.

Just food for thought.

Along with the move from 4 tablets to 3, and a number of changes to blood pressure meds, my blood pressure is now reasonably under control.

I owe this panel my results from the question on Prednisone dosage, I will post that in the b=near future.

Also had my post radiation 3 month PET Scan on April 8, appointment to go over results with MO is today.

Been on three tables and 5mg. Prendisone since 2018 PSA 0.1

I was dropped to 3 (750mg) my first time around due to a drop in lymphocytes and PSA stayed undetectable until the 2 year mark. This time around I started on 3 for a short time and then went to 4 (1000 mg) which I am on now, undetectable and without any issues to date.

What was your prednisone dose while you were on 3x250?

It has always been 5mg per day.

Thank you. I've been on 4x250 and 2x5mg daily since treatment began in January 2022. PSA has been <0.04 for the past several months. I'm going to talk with my MO about lower doses and/or vacation soon.

Are you in your initial treatment? Actually as I am metastatic 10mg may be what I should be on but my MO hasn't changed anything. I am very low volume and I am being treated for recurrence.

Treedown

Yes. Prostate and Lymph nodes including peri-aortic nodes.

Started in Oct of 2023. Lupron every 6 months and 4 Abiraterone every day with 5mg of prednisone.

Blood pressure was insane. 190/110.

I have been on BP meds since my 20s.

The move to 3 tabs was to help the BP.

Radiation finished in Jan.

Cardiologist has been changing meds. Now have a 4 medication BP cocktail 2 times a day that along with the 3 abiraterone keeps the PB in check.

PSA is <0.04 and testosterone is <7:00 so the 3 seem to be working.

Just had my 2nd Lupron shot and will continue on 3 until a need arises for the 4 again.

I had a very similar dx but imaging back then was not what it is now. Good luck.

i have taken 2 x 500 mg Abiraterone daily since I started almost a year ago plus 1 5mg pred daily plus lupron injection quarterly

Results good both Psa and T under .02

They dropped me to 3 tabs as well due to debilitating fatigue. I have seen some improvement in that vein and due for my next bloodwork in a month and will see how it impacted my numbers.

When my AST & ALT skyrocketed after 7 months, I took a 7 week pause. Then I was switched to 2 tablets, then 3. (250mg) Stayed with 3 for 4 years. Always <0.01.
