Constipation is a known issue with the Orgovyx

I've been on Orgovyx (Relugolix) for around 2.5 years now. and find myself getting increasingly constipated. It's the most tenacious SE. My labs are all stable and my PSA is stable at <0.02. But I'm now on 4 types of laxatives and next am planning on getting an enema and trying that. I have an appt with the doc Monday, my six month checkup. He said this is a known issue.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a way to relieve it?

If I have to change meds to alleviate this, I'm leaning toward upping my dose of Estradiol to castration-level rather than trying another ADT.

But I'd prefer to stay or Orgovyx for the time being because it has worked so well so far.

Your constipation is much more severe than mine and I am not on ADT. But, I use Metamucil 2-3 times a week and it really cleans me out. It is just fiber. I use the sugar free, orange flavor and my dose is one large tablespoon mid-afternoon. My best friend from high school uses it every afternoon and swears by it. Sorry but that's all I got. Good luck.

I prefer to stay with a natural cure for constipation. I eat a couple of dried prunes after dinner. For dessert, I eat yogurt topped with a handful or two of Kellog's All-Bran Buds. Make sure you get the buds - they're like tiny nuggets. The combination of those two items keep me regular.

You've probably tried this......I had long term problems for a number of years. Increased my water/liquid intake, 30-60 minutes of daily walking, and one serving of Miralax, suggested by Kaiser, has mostly solved the problem......I think the Miralax has beenthe biggest thing. Kaiser has colonoscopy patients use Miralax as the cleanout prep.

I have a friend who does a colonoscopy prep twice a year.

If your stools are already soft and you remain constipated , then I think that is a much tougher problem. For me, daily Metamucil was not very helpful, nor prunes.

I agree with Small Change, I have always had problems long before this diagnosis. Have Kellogs allbran for breakfast every day. Mix with few cornflakes or more allbran varying day to day. Sometimes Weetabix t o increase fibre. My worst spell was after radiotherapy to spine and lots of morphine. Laxatives didn't seem to solve problem but allbran, drinking prune juice and eating a bag of dried prunes on top of regular laxative powder for a few weeks got me back to normal. Now on palliative docetaxel and reduce fibre straight after infusion because of diarrhoea and start increasing gradually after about a week for constipation so plenty allbran a few days before my next 3 weekly infusion. I keep carton of prune juice in fridge for reserve and will buy dried prunes if I feel the problem not solved immediately. I know the feeling so hopefully you find a solution that works for you. Good luck

"...been on Orgovyx (Relugolix) for around 2.5 years now. and find myself getting increasingly constipated...."

For years I have been taking 2 heaping teaspoons of Metamucil after dinner. Have been on Orgovyx now for 4 months. I can tell it is trying to cause constipation, but is prevented by the Metamucil.

I am on Orgovyx and Xtandi. Prunes help quite a bit. I have to consume six prunes at a time for the right effect.

Prune juice works wonders but drink lots of water each day (6-8, 16oz bottles). Most think they drink enough water but unless measured you don't. Hope this helps.

I've used Lupron for 5.5 years, never Orgovyx. I adopted a high fiber plant based diet and have had no constipation issues. Usually, eating to much in one sitting, and eating too many nuts or raw veggies can cause a slowdown.

Drinking a full glass or two of plan water upon awakening usually works wonders.

Drink a full glass of cold prune juice and 2 or 3 Sunsweet brand pitted prunes (good price from Costco) daily (plus drink water during the day). Or every day eat a few pitted prunes boiled with a small wedge of a lemon (drink the cooled off juice).

When drinking the cold prune juice...... don't stop swallowing until the end - cause that's when you actually taste the prunes.... (yucky poo)....

Note: Going will be so fast that the aforementioned advice will save you from buying those girly magazines to read while you're on the throne.

If all of this doesn't work, there's always T.N.T.

Good luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Good point about chilling the prune juice! I got a quart that was close to $5. The Knudsen brand is close to $9.

Im been on Orgovix for a little bit over 3 years and never have constipation problemsProbably is because I eat healthy, lots of veggies and water and a daily 400mg pill of magnesium before bed

Magnesium dosis could be different for every one according with our body mass, on my case 400mg works fine, but I undestand some peoples can have diarrea with that amount

I've been on 400g of Magnesium Glycinate daily for about 6 months and eat a high fibre veggie diet. I think this acute situation may be from Vitamin D toxicity. Whatever it is, things are moving better. today. Went for a long walk yesterday and had chickpeas and garlic for dinner and had no issues this am. I later read those two are known for helping relieve it.
