I’m changing from 3 month Lupron to 6 month Eligard.
Lupron has always been injected in my hip and I’m wondering if Eligard can also use the same site.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Elgar’s is a deep subcutaneous injection (in the fatty tissue under the skin). They can give the injection anywhere that has enough fatty tissue. That includes the abdomen, the thigh, the buttocks and upper arm (providing there is enough fatty tissue.) Since you’ll be having an injection every 6 months, you shouldn’t have too much problem rotating sites.
Lupron is an intramuscular injection usually given in the hip.
Bottom line - 2 different techniques. If you have a preference, tell the professional who administers it. I personally love it when I can give the patient some choice.
My experience with is that the injection was way more painful then Lupron (of any of the other i have). Dont want to be dramatic but always hurt at bit. Lupron never if you have a
good nurse then can make it painless. Good luck.
But bearable.
Just had my second abdominal Eligard injection (4 month dosage). Have had no discomfort or problems at the injection site (mind you I have a goodly amount of adipose tissue padding this area. LOL
I got Eligard in my belly. Less painful than the blister left on my arm. I only took it for a few months, Lupron all other times.
When I was switched to Eligard they injected it into my belly
I also got the Eligard shot in my belly. Ask the nurse to give you a baggy with ice in it first and ice the injection site. That really helps with any pain. Also, I've seen some concerns raised about the 6 month shot wearing off early, compared to the 3 month shot, so you may want to ask your MO if he/she has any such concerns.
With any injection I have always put on as soon as I got home….Vicks vapor rub. I assume it’s the menthol and the camphor that works, they are topical analgesics. It helps reduce any pain and swelling. Used this on our kids when they were younger when getting boosters.
My husband gets his Eligard injection in the hip.
got the Eligard shot today in the belly. A bit uncomfortable with the injection, a little sting, some burning but….. wait for it…….. all is good. And ‘no’ I do not have anew belly button. Next shot in 6 months.
