Hello Warriors

My husband had a calcium score done and it shows atherosclerotic disease. Dr wants to increase statin dose but the Zytiga side effects are giving him increase joint pain and discomfort. We will see his cardiologist in April. Have any of you seen any increase in heart related issues( calcification etc. since being on Zytiga ? Thanks!

I was on Zytiga in 2017 for the duration of the chemo. The pain you described was exactly what I experienced. For me, unfortunately, my oncologist acted like I was describing something he'd never heard before, and thus, I was left to find my way in the dark with only his gaslighting to lead the way!

Doctor's prior occupation was a "deep mine" coal miner....(BTW Does he call you a nickname Canary by any chance?)

I have been on Zytiga for 4 years, 18 months ago started with joint pain and discomfort. I did a home test for Thyroid which produced a very bad result & my GP is treating me for this which is helping, but still not solved the problem. Prednisolone I believe can in a few people seriously effect the thyroid & my Onc told me this could be causing my mobility problems. Hope this helps you.

Heart related issues are higher glucose and cholesterol. I have been taking statins so no issues with cholesterol for me.

I did have significant glucose increase, so that may be something for you to look at.

I would you discuss curcumin and magnesium as both are beneficial to the heart and help maintain bp. You will find both are beneficial fighting cancer and minimizing side effects of adt. I have a friend that started taking curcumin for bp 6 or 8 months ago for high bp. He also had a heart problem that caused a very low heart rate. He is now off bp meds and heart rate is normal. If you have imbalance of calcium and magnesium the body can’t properly process the calcium. I have been on adt for two years and my side effects are limited to minor hot flashes and belly fat. I have good energy, no libido, and blood labs are great. Curcumin cleanses the liver, makes the body sensitive to insulin, balances lipids and reduces inflammation, reduces bp, protests the heart etc. I had a dexa bone scan recently which took 5 months to have done. My OC started me on Xgeva before I had my scan because he was sure I had bone loss due to the Pca. Surprised to find normal BMD. Stopped Xgeva. God Bless!

Vitamins K2 Mk 7 and D3 are said to help drive calcium into bones and not into artery walls. google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q...

I am not a doctor. There are articles on both sides of this issue.
