Abiraterone and heart issues

I've been on Zytiga 1000mg since last February. This week I went in for my second stress test....this time an ECG with ultrasound. They apparently have found something called LBBB...left bundle branch block. It's a delay of electrical impulses on the left side of the heart. I know that Zytiga can cause other heart issues and I'm wondering if anyone has heard there could be a correlation? Damn, if it isn't one thing it's another, right?

Hi, I believe it's mostly hypertension as a side effect, prednisone with it should help.

Zytiga also effects potassium levels, which are involved with the heart beats

Thanks Randy! I'm on 5mg prednisone...sounds like I definitely need to clue in my MO on all of this! Potassium number was great in my labs last Monday so we can rule that out. Thanks again!

I have that too. My cardiologist tells me that some people just have it. It is inconsequential and has nothing to do with your drugs and there is nothing to be done about it.

Thanks TA! Good to hear this and makes me less worried. After my undetectable PSA last Monday I was feeling optimistic and then this. I’m moving on with living and having fun! 👍🏻

LBBB is an “incidental” finding on EKG in many individuals with healthy hearts, including many young highly trained endurance athletes. By itself it does not portend increased cardiovascular risk. Have had it myself for life. Though we must still be mindful of the effects of ADT and other drugs and our genetic and lifestyle risk factors of course.
