9/21, Craniotomy, removed tumor (PC). 6 months later, 3 lesions, brain, PC. 5/22, SAS of tumors, subscribed Lupron & Erleada. Since then, all's well. The lupron keeps the PC out of the lymph system in the body, the Erleada penetrates the brain.

The VA has consistently had problems getting the Erleada to me in a timely manner. Surprising, since their system's bulletproof with all other meds. I'm looking to Canada, elsewhere to purchase a backup supply when they screw up again in the future.

Canada drugs wants $6K for a month's supply since it's a tier 5 drug (Janssen, you criminal bastards).

Here's my question for the forum: Anyone know of a source I might use to purchase a backup supply for when the VA is a week late in getting meds to me? Or, is there another new med that performs as effectively at penetrating the blood/brain barrier that's not manufactured by Guido Incorporated? (no offense, my Italian brothers).

Have you tried applying to Janssen's assistance program?

Otherwise it seems like you should be a able to get it through a specialty pharmacy in the US, there doesn't seem to be a supply issue there but the cost is extremely high.

Also sometimes members here are switched off of a drug and have some left over so you might be able to get some that way.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that, but I'd prefer to purchase some. My medicare plus program will provide some as well and I'm looking into that. Hopefully the VA shipment will be here Monday.

My insurance is United Health. When I turned 65 and became eligible for Medicare they refused to fill my prescription of Erleada. Before I turned 65, and they did fill it, they always made me go to Optum pharmacy the only specialty drug pharmacy in their 'network". When I turned 65 United Health would say I was 'approved', but Optum refused to fill the prescription. It was a nightmare. I was so jacked around by them. I paid 17,000 for one prescription, then I was able to find a 45 day supply of samples from my local urologists.

1) check for samples to get you through until you can find a source

2) I am going to try the Jansen deal

3) you might try enzalutamide as a replacement

4) if your over 65 sign up for Medicare Part D

If I knew how to get them from Canada I would buy them there. I have since applied for Medicare Part D. Apparently as part of the Inflation Reduction Act, no one with Part D is supposed to pay more than $3,300 per year for drugs. Thus, the reason why United Healthcare insisted I enroll in Medicare. They never said it, but I finally got the message!!!

Good luck
