Hi, My husband was diagnosed over 10 years ago with Prostate cancer with PSA 18 and Gleeson 4+3. He was never offered prostatectomy as they said there was a small metastases on the pelvis. So he had 2 weeks of radiation on his hip, and was then treated with 6 monthly injections of Decapeptyl, which he still has. Over the years he has taken Xgeva, Xytiga and Erleada. All of these worked to keep his PSA undetectable. However each drug gave many side effects, that over time became intolerable.
In last 2 years, my husband has had stomach problems, and has just been diagnosed with gastroporesis. Due to the daily vomiting and inability to eat much, his Consultant has stopped the Erleada. We are due to see him in 2 weeks time. So we had the dreaded PSA blood test today. His PSA a year ago was 0.5, 6 months ago, it was 8.9 and today it is 89.0! So I am in panic mode as I am unsure why this has happened. What treatment will help his PSA to lower, bearing in mind his stomach will not accept the tablets?
I feel ur frustration and pain my dad barely could tolerate the meds but he took 4 a day and he reduced it to just 2 and it kept his PSA levels low once PSA crept up to 11 he would go back and take the 4 but he was sick to his stomach and was dizzy nauseous back pain just miserable.
I’m not advising him to cut it to one tablet or two tablets but that’s what my dad did and we just hoped for the best the other thing is the gastroparesis. Did this happen while taking the meds or he had this before because my mother had that she suffered from diabetes, but certain medication made her gastroparesis worse, and when we took her off of those meds, her stomach was fine
