It appears that if you had SBRT or like myself IMRT and you were given gold markers you cannot do any of the following salvage treatments in case of a reoccurrence : Proton therapy, Hifu, Tulsa Pro , Etc. Is this true???? Again a significant fact left out before treatment...
In addition , what are the current EFFECTIVE salvage treatments in case of a reoccurrence...available to those of us who have had SBRT , IMRT, and have gold markers ....and their significant side effects that may rule them out as a possible treatment ???
Is there any trials going on for new salvage treatments?
My nephew is an interventional oncologist and told me that sbrt may be available now as a salvage treatment even if you had sbrt or imrt as a Primary Radiation Treatment. (can anyone confirm that)
After a recent PET scan, the doctors at Moffett found cancer in one area in the prostate. They want to see if I'm a candidate for high dose brachytherapy to that area. Since I already have issues with peeing, I think I'm going to pass, just to toxic. I had EBRT and IMRT 9 years ago with no gold markers.
Man oh Man.......... You're on the ball, as soon as the word gold is mentioned you popped right up. But that's a no brainer..........(and I have none)....
Note: I wish to offer my apologies if I offended anyone regarding my so-called humor about "race" or "misogyny". To me, humor is boundless and since we entered this word crying, I thought it would be a good idea to exit laughing.
There is a far better way I treated mine that worrying about castration resistance and future radiation but I can't say it in Here. Read between the lines.
Yes, and he asked “is there any trials going on for new salvage treatment?” Is there nothing new since the trials cited in your article? I guess we’d have to define “new”. One year, 3 years, 5 years…
Jewelrylady...I have been traveling so didn't get time to look or respond to HU ..but I have now and will respond..However I did want to get back to you and thank you for posting and not backing down ..you were 100% correct in your posts and in interpreting my requests..Again ,Thank you
TA's responses have been deleted and that's a shame as he was and is a wonderful source of information.
I noticed he had deleted all his posts, but maybe he thought they weren’t relevant any more once you confirmed what you were asking. I just couldn’t understand why he didn’t understand your question which is why I kept trying to clarify it. I’m sure he will continue responding to people’s post, but maybe not mine🤣
I guess that’s what I thought the original poster was asking, “what else (trials for new salvage treatment) could there be?” So, if I’m understanding correctly, currently there are no new salvage treatments, so no new trials?
I don’t quite understand “all of them (clinical trials) are available per protocol from some practitioners”. Does this mean some doctors can do their own trial, but not be part of the original clinical trial? Thanks for clarifying.
Not many centres are doing reirradiaton of the prostate. My RO is an SBRT specialist with an Elekta Unity MRI linac on disposal and I didn't have any gold markers a year ago during my initial SBRT irradiation with 38Gy of my prostate. My SUV max value of my prostate is 6.5 now on the PSMA pet scan about a year after my initial radiation.
I did also the MRI of my prostate and the PIRADS score is 5.
My RO thinks that I have a low grade cancer in my prostate now with SUV max value of the prostate 6.5. a year ago the SUV max value was 14 and my PSA was 1.4 just before my prostate irradiation.
My RO doesn't want to reirradiate my prostate as he believes that I could have side effects after the new SBRT radiation.
Brysonal had EBRT, hdr brachytherapy and conventional brachytherapy. But now with PSA undetectable he still has PSMA avidity in his prostate. I asked him what was his prostate SUV max value on his last PSMA pet scan but he didn't replied back.
My RO is saying that even if there is a PSMA avidity in the prostate after radiation it doesn't mean that their is a cancer. It was proven by a clinical trial when they took out surgically a PSMA avid prostate but they didn't find any cancer in it. They did find cancer in the pelvic lymph nodes.
