This is the first place I came to, dad's gone. I could never say he lost the battle because it was never a fair one to begin with but I do know he wanted to keep fighting. I will pray for everyone who has ever lost a loved one. It's been the toughest day. Thanks to this community, me and my sister got alot of information and help through this whole journey. Grateful 🙏

Seeing this to much lately. Including off this site. I really believe we could have cancer beat if more funding was directed to research. Has anyone noticed that only our representatives in congress don’t get cancers? I’m not aware of any. When they do maybe we can move forward to beating this horrible disease.

There are times when words do not have enough weight to convey one's empathy or to lessen another's grief. Language seems --inadequate.

I express my sincere sympathy to you and your family. I have been where you are and at a very young age. Your grief will be different than mine was, but you will find that it will shape your life. I have, had decades living with my loss, the most significant loss in my life. It will always hurt, always--but--remember the love, sharing life with him and those special times. You will hear his voice. Your memories of certain shared events will be almost tangible. Some memories can be painful but if you try, you will also find the strength in these memories.

At times family, friends and clergy can be helpful. Sometimes being alone with our own thoughts is best. We never get over a significant loss, we learn to live with it. Grieve when you have to. Live life as he would have wished you to do when you can. Me, although it still hurts, I am grateful to have shared the years I did with him. That is the best we can do. That is the contract of life. You and your family be at rest, find some peace.

yes, I so agree about the use of ‘battle’. I understand so well why it’s used though there is such a giving in to it that made me resist. It is like giving it something. Now begins another experience of being without him physically. I’m glad you have family and your sister. This experience has so many shifting sides to it. Be kind to yourself and know that grief is difficult. There are many helpful groups that make a difference, just as this group helped.
