New machine learning model could enable targeted gene therapies for genetic diseases

A cure is coming

Johns Hopkins University biomedical engineers have developed a machine-learning model that could one day lead to therapies to treat genetic diseases like cancer and diabetes. The model can predict which enhancers play a role in normal development and disease, and can be used to identify DNA features like physical structure and modifying marks that could help turn on and off genes at will. This research could help scientists better understand enhancer mutations and their associated diseases, leading to improved treatments for genetic conditions.

I understand your feeling but I believe there is a path to a cure. But it is more than one step and doesn't just happen overnight. How long is that path? I don't know but that there will be discoveries along the way that take us closer and closer.

And I'm confident that path will lead to knew treatments, drugs and therapies that are incredibly beneficial to easing our burden and pain. Even though we each have our own "path", every time research turns a rock over and something new is discovered, it could be the missing piece for our own personal journey that provides lasting relief and QOL.

This is like a 10,000 piece puzzle that is only 3" x 5". I'm glad there are researchers, doctors and organizations out there trying to put it together. They will eventually figure it out and each time a piece is put in its correct place, we may all benefit in some small way.

Thanks for posting Scout.

Please do not make negative statements on religion, this is a prostate cancer support group. Thank you.

As for Scouts article. Yes it is unlikely to help immediately but if they ever go to clinical trials etc. then Scout and Rolphus have posted a very helpful resource. So I thank you both for your helpful, positive contribution to this forum.

Cheers

Graham

Yes, I noticed that as well. She joined under this name 4 days ago. Guess we all need a daily dose of negativity to highlight the positives in our lives. So thank you free festival.
