I don’t intend this as a political post. I do not understand why we do not manufacture critical drugs in the United States rather than be dependent on supplies from other countries. I hate to be naive and realize production costs are less in the two countries mentioned here ( India and China). Is it patents or economics?
Both. Once a patent expires, a drug can be made generically, which can lead to a lot of cost cutting and quality control issues. nytimes.com/2023/05/17/heal...
