Has anyone used baking soda to treat PCa?Its based on changing the body's PH to alkaline which cancer hates.

Thanks,

Dom

You cannot change your body's PH. Your body regulates that itself. Only thing you'll change us the PH of your output- urine- which does not indicate a change in your blood PH.

Doesn't work. I took bicarb in water most days for many years to relieve heartburn due to hiatus hernia. Then I was diagnosed with prostate cancer lol. Also took propranolol which is supposed to slow metastasis but that didn't prove true in my case.

Taking baking soda doesn't directly kill cancer cells. It has been shown to change the balance of inflammatory versus non-inflammatory macrophages. Macrophages are a kind of white blood cell that engulf and digest pathogens, such as cancer cells, microbes, cellular debris, and foreign substances.

Drinking 2 g of NaHCO3 dissolved in 250 ml of bottled water produced this response. It isn't changing the pH of the body, but apparently stimulating a very thin layer of cells called the mesothelium in the spleen.

Inflammation is known to promote cancer, reducing inflammation is generally a good thing. It might help with cancer but it is unlikely anyone will be doing a study.

Some success with mice using tail vein injections, “bicarbonate had mixed results, inhibiting the formation of metastases from PC3M prostate cancer cells, but not those of B16 melanoma”.

Bicarbonate increases tumor pH and inhibits spontaneous metastases

Abstract

The external pH of solid tumors is acidic as a consequence of increased metabolism of glucose and poor perfusion. Acid pH has been shown to stimulate tumor cell invasion and metastasis in vitro and in cells before tail vein injection in vivo. The present study investigates whether inhibition of this tumor acidity will reduce the incidence of in vivo metastases. Here, we show that oral NaHCO(3) selectively increased the pH of tumors and reduced the formation of spontaneous metastases in mouse models of metastatic breast cancer. This treatment regimen was shown to significantly increase the extracellular pH, but not the intracellular pH, of tumors by (31)P magnetic resonance spectroscopy and the export of acid from growing tumors by fluorescence microscopy of tumors grown in window chambers. NaHCO(3) therapy also reduced the rate of lymph node involvement, yet did not affect the levels of circulating tumor cells, suggesting that reduced organ metastases were not due to increased intravasation. In contrast, NaHCO(3) therapy significantly reduced the formation of hepatic metastases following intrasplenic injection, suggesting that it did inhibit extravasation and colonization. In tail vein injections of alternative cancer models, bicarbonate had mixed results, inhibiting the formation of metastases from PC3M prostate cancer cells, but not those of B16 melanoma. Although the mechanism of this therapy is not known with certainty, low pH was shown to increase the release of active cathepsin B, an important matrix remodeling protease.

Back in late 2016, I came across the story of Vernon Johnston, a prostate cancer victim who attempted to use baking soda with molasses to "cure" himself. He claimed to have done so, and wrote an e-book, which he sold for $10. I bought his book and tried it but I didn't follow his protocol precisely. I managed to get my pH above 8 for 4 days. I never could sense that anything actually happened to me as a consequence. I found that lycopenes were more successful, and I still use them to control my APC. He died seven years or so after his "discovery".

He was taking bicalutamide (!) along with baking soda to get "success", I don't know if he forgot to mention this "little thing" in his book or not, but I so it somewhere in his videos or his comments long time ago when I was trying to get cancer under control using alternative methods.

It is like another french Guy all over internet, that water fasting reversed his prostate cancer and keeps it under control and promoting ridiculous diet and even more ridiculous supplements (some of them can actually promote cancer) and he has even supplement selling doctor making video of him... both forget to emphasize small detail... that this Guy had Orchiectomy (!!!)

Basically it is complete nonsense like most if not all alternative treatments!

Complementary and off label drugs use is a complete different matter however and can be effectively utilized with SOC.

I took bicalutamide for a short time just prior to Lupron. I believe it stops testosterone production in adrenals.

It does not, It is anti-adrogen and does not effect level of testosterone. You took it to prevent "flare" from lupron. Some people on this site using it successfully as mono-therapy for years.

My point was that plenty of these backing soda, fasting etc.. circulating internet claiming that control or beat the cancer... when in reality main part in the control belongs to the results of the surgery, radiation or medication.

I'm all for off-label drugs and carefully curated supplements, and myself use very unconventional approaches, but pure nonsense like baking soda cure have to be called out.

Would you care to share your supplement list.

TIA

It constantly changes and also depends on what I’m doing otherwise. I used to swallow buckets of supplements, not anymore.

Successful in the past was these 3:

Ip6 + inositol

Turkey tale hot water extract

Beta-Glucans

Now I stoped the first two above, they might be useful again in the future or might be not for me.

Now besides Beta Glucans, I’m taking melatonin 30 mg one night in one nigh off (please don’t ask me for reasons of this melatonin regimen, I won’t be able to explain), curcumin and lysosomal luteolin.

Of label drugs 2 month on … 1 month off (will not be able to explain why this regimen):

Metformin

Crestor

—-

Continuously Cabergoline

That is my individual approach and I do not recommend anything, just answering the question 😉

I am starting Beta-Glucans, in the hope of strengthening my immune system, in particular upping my low lymphocyte count. Is that your reason for taking it?

CurrentSEO profile image
CurrentSEO in reply toPurple-Bike

Two fold for me:

Strengthens immune system indeed

Have Anti-cancer properties in my case… slowing down PSA doubling time for me when on no medication whatsoever… I’m stoping it after 2-4 of months of continuous for a month or so.

Right, there may be other benefits to Beta-Glucans, an under-appreciated substance. I finally settled on the Transfer Point brand. Did you test your immune markers?

CurrentSEO profile image
CurrentSEO in reply toPurple-Bike

I was taking this (good brand), but recently switched to NOW … and looks like time to forget about them (will do some research) , please refer to this tread healthunlocked.com/fight-pr...

There is always a risk with supplements .. you never really know what you take inside the capsule… of course recalls can happen with regular meds as well.

No I did not test immune markers , just how I go without colds, etc…

My choice narrowed down to being between Transfer Point and Southwest Pharmaceuticals, finally chose the former.I will check my lymphocytes and other wbc:s to see if there is progress.

Have you found any other substance with immuno strengthening potential? I am starting cat's claw, brand ac-11, which has some clinical evidence for this, albeit less strong than Beta-Glucans.

Aged Black Garlic Capsules from "Think Remedy" very strong immune booster, works wonders for me.

I take it only on needed bases, because of spiritual reasons... but it can be taken regularly.

If you blood pressure is generally low, be careful as it can drop pressure further down.

The pH varies from one organ to the next. Your skin should have pH levels between 4 and 6.5, so roughly neutral.

Your gastric system should have levels between 1.35 to 3.5, so more acidic in order to breakdown protein.

Your bile should have levels between 7.6 and 8, hence more alkaline to neutralize the stomach acide and aid the digestion.

Given the varying pH levels across the organs, I do not see how you could target a specific organ when drinking baking soda.
