Anyone have experience with Provenge? Especially on PSA tests?

For my history, I was diagnosted with Prostrate cancer in 2018. Now 70 years old. I had Surgery in late 2018 where they removed my prostrate and found cancer in 2 lymph nodes. I have had 2 salvage radiation sessions, which appeared to be successful. I have been on Lupron, essentially since surgery. My was PSA lowered to less than 1. Initial PET scan found no spreading cancer, however a PSMA scan in Oct 2022 found cancer spreading to lymph nodes but no other organs. For the past several months my PSA has been rapidly rising, doubling approximately every month . I took Nubequa for 4months starting in Sept 2022 with little impact. I under went Provenge treatments for 6 weeks in April 2023, which initially have had little pact on PSA test, which is now at 36. Considering chemo as the next step, but wondering how long I should wait for any Provenge impact.

Provenge doesn't affect PSA. It increases survival.

As I recall, my PSA did go down after Provenge but only a few points. I think it took about two months.

diagnose d 02/2017 Provenge 3 sessions in Sept 2018 - then spent 5 weeks traveling to Morocco, Paris, Trans Atlantic crossing INCLUDING climbing to the top of Mont St Michele 409 steps !!! Undetectable until recently with tiny increase in PSA. Drs think Provenge helped with the good results. I'm a believer

Don't expect a drop, but if you start Extandi right afterwards you may get more response time out of the Extandi. That was my husband's experience and his disease was nodes only. Good luck and enjoy each day.

I've been on Nubeq/*/a /*missing "u"/ for almost 2 months and I'll compare my results to yours.... Hope good results with your Provenge impact....

So, five months later what happened with your PSA levels?

I'm being considered for Provenge, but my Onco warned me that it won't affect PSA, but it does clearly extend life in those who've had it.

The Provenge didn’t have much affect on PSA. I did see a reduction in the rate of increase after a couple of months, but no decrease. So, I moved on to chemo, Even that took 3 cycles before my PSA started to drop. After 4 cycles my PSA has dropped from 67 to 49. Hopefully the provenge will extend my survivability, but I have no way to measure that. I still have no symptoms. I plan to continue chemo to reduce my PSA as low as possible. I have been lead to believe that chemo may provide 50% reduction from the high. Next, I may move to pluvicto. So far my side affects from chemo have been very tolerable. Best of luck tp you.
