Chemo mucositis?

After chemo session #5 I thought I had bronchitis; coughing up very thick mucus from down deep in the chest, but it cleared up in about 10 days, and is back again after chemo #6, so I'm guessing it's chemo induced mucositis.

Anyone have tips for dealing with this beyond salt/baking-soda mouth washes (gargling perhaps too) and Mucinex to thin it out a bit?

Having just completed my 6th infusion of docetaxel I have experienced the same symptoms secondary to mucositis and have gotten significant reduction in mucous buildup by taking the anti allergy over the counter medication Claritin. Best to you

Okay, thanks. I’m already taking Claritin for a painful rash I’ve got running up my blood vessel the infusion went into.

Congrats on finishing chemo. It’s great to look forward to no more of it, isn’t it?

Actually I have 4-6 more infusions to complete the series, depending upon FDG and CT scans results. I am 10+ years in with recurrence of extensive lymph node disease. Best to you
