New treatment after being dropped from Pluvicto.

I was dropped from LU177 treatment in late January and started my first round of Docetaxel/Carboplatin on 01/30. Lab results on 02/17 showed my platelet count to be very low so was denied the second round of chemo.

We did see a significant drop in PSA from 758 to 611 on that lab. My next lab 03/17 showed platelet count up to 75 but hemoglobin had dropped to 6.8 so again will be denied the scheduled chemo infusion next week it looks like.

I was offered a transfusion which I will pursue Monday 03/20 in hopes to fire up the system. By the way the lab did show PSA dropped to 340. I’m pleased with the drop from 758 to 340 with just the one chemo infusion in January. ???

Any thoughts??? Thank you for reading.

Often when docetaxel+carboplatin works well, a PARP inhibitor works well too. A couple of recent trials found it was effective when combined with a 2nd line hormonal, even in some men who are BRCA-. Unfortunately, PARP inhibitors can deplete red blood cells too.

Thank you, I will pass this on o my Onc. Fingers crossed blood work will allow me to continue with chemo cocktail.

Great news that your PSA drop indicates the cancer is responding to the chemo.

Very sorry the LU did not work out for you. the LU can really knock down blood counts for some of us. Mine took about 2 months to slowly climb back up from almost transfusion level to low range. I hope yours will start to bounce back soon. I think they might consider resuming the remaining LU treatments later on when blood counts get better if necessary.

How many times did you have LU177 before you got dropped? Where were you treated? Why were you dropped?

I received three treatments, before the fourth one they said my PSA was rising, and we were not making progress. I had my treatments at Fred Hutchison CC in Seattle.

I have no experience with chemo. I asked the Onc if she would give me low dose chemo, and she said she is legally prohibited. And I have turned down full dose. So no chemo experience.
