Lupron, Abiraterone and Prednisone...constant bruising

72 years old, diagnosed in 2013 with Gleason 9. Currently have a PSA of 0.20 (up from 0.15 in May of 2022. Treatment plan of Lupron, Abiraterone and Prednisone. I have been bruising very easily and often and gathering open cuts at the slightest provocation and seemingly sometimes spontaneously. I also take two Aleves per day for my arthritis. Is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?

Both the prednisone and the Aleve could contribute to easier bruising. Also possibly vitamin K deficiency. Are there any supplements you take`in addition to your meds? Have you had blood work recently, to see if your platelet, red and white counts are good?

Thank you for your prompt response. I had blood tests done in November and blood counts look good. In terms of supplements, I take calcium and collagen gummy supplements.

Do you drink orange juice every day?

I do not, however, lately I have eaten one or two oranges per day, most days. The bruising began prior to the orange-eating.

Fairly common side effect. Especially on forearms, right? Lots of posts here. Do a search. One post suggested DerMend Fragile Skin Moisturizing Formula Cream. I've been using that, and I think maybe it actually helps.

Thank you very much. I will do some research on the sight. And yes, it is mostly on my forearms and hands.

Have you been on ADT constantly since Diagnosis? Did you have radiation or surgery?

Peealot in reply to Scout4answers

I had radiation, but not surgery as the tumor was located in a spot that could not have been excised without causing catastrophic urinary problems. And, yes, I have been on Lupron since the beginning. Now on Lupron and Zytiga.

similar diagnosis and treatment and I am also experiencing bruising and cut easily. Skin is thin. I attribute it to a lack of testosterone and maybe some to aging.

brothers from another mother. I had been taking 2 Aleve pills per day. When I replaced one of them with ibuprofen my bruising is significantly less frequent.
