Lupron works much better than Casodex.
Do you have metastatic cancer? There is nothing in your profile.
One problem with Casodex is that eventually it will start feeding the cancer.
If you have metastatic cancer treatment with ADT and new anti androgens will offer a survival advantage.
When my son got his first six-month Lupron injection, he was prescribed 50mg. of Casodex a day for 30 days. Because when some men receive Lupron for the first time, they may experience a phenomenon called "testosterone flare. " The Casodex was given to prevent the "testosterone flare." He has not complained of any SEs. And he seems to be tolerating Lupron hormone therapy well. Best wishes with your decision.
The standard dose for Casodex monotherapy is 150 mg.
Later today, I will post my first year update on my Bicalutamide (aka Casodex) adaptive dose experiment. I may be an extra-extra-extra good responder, but this is what it is.
Do you see an oncologist? Did you have any scans?
I was prescribed 50 mg Casodex which worked for 5 years or so, but it was prescribed along with Lupron injections. When it began to fail I was immediately taken off of it because it can be an activator of the cancer. As a mono therapy it is usually prescribed as a 150mg dosage. It is an older, weaker AR inhibitor/antagonist.
