I met with my new oncologist Saturday morning and have made big changes in my meds and the way I do my meds , blood work etc. … He thinks I’ll be in better condition ( able to walk some ) in a month or two. I’ll be able to use my electric mobility cart much less and be able to get out easier . I wanna be like Dockam …
don’t think it’ll be any 5Ks tho yayahahahaya yayahahahaya.
What did he change you from and to? Was it purely for QOL? Or did he think it could better fight your PC? Keep us informed on your QOL and health progress after the change brutha.
Well …. I’ve had 46 consecutive monthly Zometa infusions. Those present 5-8 days of OMG discomfort and pain when I get those. And of course, month after month after month beats you down physically. Every Zometa infusion requires a 11 item blood work up, two days before the infusion too.
So , in every 93 days basically , I have two Lupron implants ( one every 90 ), 3 Zometa infusions , and 3 visits for blood work prefacing my infusions….. plus around 24 days of painful down time ( in the 90 ).
The doc has changed my Zometa infusions to three month intervals … stacking them with the Lupron implants. This requiring just two blood works ups in 93 days .
My oncologist thinks I’m heavily hammered with the original setup and, having 90 days of recoup time ( rather than 2 1/2 - 3 weeks ) …. My body will have substantially more time to recover … which will improve my overall health and strength. The 90 days of interval will allow me to have a much better QOL by having 66% more free time to plan things and get out more successfully, not having to weave thru the scheduling and sickness issues….
The oncologist thinks I’ll improve and grow stronger which will help me fight my cancer better too. My mindset should lift considerably in the process, he says.
My ADT zombie isn’t expected to change but things in general should uptick a bunch.
Ooops I just realized I typed this to dockam and not to you Schwah. I’ll post a note to schwah to look for this under dockam and please ignore this , I m too tired and exhausted for a redo , sorry about that.
Your positivity and work arounds in the face of everything you deal with has been amazing.A little improvement will probably put you over the moon lol.
Glad to hear an attempt at change for the better from your docs.
Thanks buddy, I appreciate it. And yes you are right …even a little upbeat positivity in this truck load of whip a$$ I swim around in is a very BIG deal for me. You have no idea how much better it makes me feel…. Even if it’s just the promise of something a little better, that’s a very good thing. Been nonexistent in recent times. My new oncologist has people skills and seems to get where I’ve been hovering. I’m very happy with him so far. Pretty kewl. I’m almost high on stopping the “ spiral “ a bit ( slowing it down a little at least ) … wooohooo. 😁😁😁
That's great news brother Kal.My first MO was like that. Always left appointments feeling emotionally good/high in good hands.
About time ha.
Speaking of spiral here's a link but its on Amazon Prime 2 bucks for a movie that's kind of in the Svengoolie genre except maybe has some intensity to it.
Okay, got it, I am mildly osteopenic and currently am on Calcium, Vit D and weight bearing exercises. So, haven't had any biophoshanates, and I hope never to need them. I'm 7 1/2 years on ADT and so far am still able to do my lil hikes which I'm totally grateful for - it helps lift my mood.
Yea stay away from the biophosphonates if possible, but if you need them …that’s another story. Most do ok on them but I seem to be super sensitive to nearly all my PCa drugs … which has been both beneficial and agonizing for me.
Yayahahahaya…that’s a lot but you’re doing 5Ks and traveling …. I’d love to do that too. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. You are one of the honest good guys here … something we need a lot more of.
After all that drama about "trolls" and personal/ad hominem attacks, I just went in a totally different direction. I've told patients that I'm trying to do experiential things: auditory (The I love the 90's concert), visual (Getty Museum), and gustatory (My dim sum trip to Chinatown)
No one gets out alive, how will will spend our time left?
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
My daughter lived in LA for a couple of years and we got to visit The Getty and lots of other wonderful places in the area. The view up there is awesome.
