testosterone new result .

Hello , Im stage 4 Oligo . Just finished 25 IMRT , 03/08 to pelvic field , taking Eligard , started Zytiga , prednisone 02/01. This is all new for me so I can get worried real quick . Current PSA .04 , down from .22 . Testosterone was <7 on 02/24 and now 03/29 its 9 ng/dl . So is this T reading no good , good , Ok ? Thanks JJ

I did 2 years of Zytiga/Prednizone. I was told the Zytiga not only inhibits the 10% of testosterone the adrenals make but inhibits the cancer from making it's own testosterone. I don't know how long you will be on this, but "standard practice" is two years. Careful when going off Prednizone. It's a bit unpredictable. I had problems when reducing dose (10mg/day). Told to taper off over 2 1/2 weeks. Legs swelled. A different Dr. stated that I should have dropped 1mg/month, first 5 months, then .5mg/month til zero. One does need to give adrenals a chance to recover and take up cortisol production again. Worth talking to your doctor about.

Side effects I noticed with Prednizone. Thin skin. I was in my 70's then, so thin skin is "normal", but much accelerated during treatment. Skin does thicken up, a bit, post Prednizone. Use a good skin moistener on arms and legs after shower.

Hey reconjj! All is well . Stay the course . You can ride that undetectable wave for many years . With help from above ! I’ve been Psa<.1 myself almost seven years . My t has been 3 for the same time . I’m still taking Tak -700 a defunct adt test drug that stops adrenal production of t . Chopped the boys 2017 and dropped the lupron shots . Good luck Sir!
