I have G9 and finished Proton Radiation treatments X 40 one year ago. Maintaining Eligard Q6 months. Just received a shock. Had a mental abnormality about 3 weeks ago. Received an MRI that showed Metastatic Brain Tumors X 3 and swelling of the brain. Taking steroid and anti-seizure med. My Radiation Oncologist doesn't think it is related to the prostate. He ordered a consult with a Neuro Surgeon for a brain tumor biopsy to find out what is causing it. Next week having an open craniotomy to biopsy one of the tumors to send to Pathology. My mental condition has become very abnormal and difficult to think. Looking forward to seeing what the pathology shows.

Wishing you best outcome possible for this difficult development. Hopefully it's benign & not related to PCa. Bless you.

Sorry to hear that news. Hope you get some good treatment options from the radiation oncologist. I think there's been some great advances in radiation treatments over the past several years.

Good luck. Hopefully, it can be removed with targeted radiation.

The biopsy I have next week should lead to understanding. I have a post surgery pathology visit with the Surgeon and the Radiation Oncologist. Hopefully they will have it figured out. My brain has always been so sharp but since this struck with brain swelling I have very messed up brain comprehension. Very difficult to reason.

What was the nature of your mental abnormality if you don’t mind describing it. Had one myself this morning when I woke up … I’d like to hear about yours. My scans did show Mets quite literally everywhere on my body in my bone joints especially . In my cranial joints as well.

Thanks

You don't have to answer either lol. But are you doing ok? Any more of those mental moments? Hope you're doin ok.

I had 4 large black areas on my skull at diagnosis. It scared my son more than I.

He asked my MO about it at as he joined in my first appointment.

I was I guess looking/freaked out at the totality of my 1621 PSA and the mets from skull to shins and was repeating a mantra in my head hoping it would come true: "chemo will help, chemo will help" so the detail of the skull mets was lower on my radar.

She explained and I hear here too that brain mets derived from skull mets are almost never a thing.

Brain mets seem to develop separately the way mets might appear on organs it seems IMHO.

On the other hand the bone mets on my right shoulder and left leg damaged ligaments and tissue in the vicinity so there's that. F'd up my range of motion and get pain twinges from that.

I know you'll contact your Dr. if your having issues so I wont be a backseat driver in that regard.

Just been thinkin of ya.

I was diagnosed with a brain tumor last July and had a craniotomy in August. Turns out it was metastatic prostate cancer. Oh that was actually good news for the doctors because prostate cancer is apparently easier to treat then other traditional brain tumors. After surgery, they did one stereotactic radiation treatment and so far so good. I wish you similar outcomes.
