I still have my prostate . It is very small caused by years of ADT.

I had been treated for prostatitis before diagnosed for prostate cancer.

Might I still have it and should I treat to prevent it adding to recurrence?

Prostatitis is the gift that keeps on giving. It relapses and remits forever, I think. The only way I know of to get rid of it permanently is to have a prostatectomy. You already have metastatic PCa, so having your prostate removed now is like closing the barn door after the horses are out.

Would it be wise to treat with SOC anti-biotic just to slow possible progression it may add to?I do not think there is any prostate fluid at this time to test.

No. Antibiotics don't work against prostatitis and only create resistant bacteria. Nothing usually shows up in semen.

I think I MISSED your mentioning in any of you posts what your Gleason Scores were from your biopsy that has guided you on the path of your treatment choices ! Would you be kind enough to post them? Thanks

21 years ago I think the Gleason score was a 3 + 4 . Not sure maybe it was 4 + 3 . PSA was 6.2 . At that time I choose to go to St Georg Klinik for transurethral hyperthermia and 5 months of Lupron.

Thanks for your reply and to think that today, some 21 years later, there is growing acceptance that treatment for increasing numbers of 3+4 men can safely proceed with Active Surveillance.

Good Luck

Your prostatitis could be caused by chronic chlamydia, if it is chronic it migh not be detectable by urine test. Best you can do a blood test for IgA and IgG chlamydia antibodies and if it shows chronic infection then heavy dose specifically to treat chronic chlamydia antibiotics should clear the prostatatis.

I'm saying that from my own experience, as I was treated by antibiotics for prostatatis with no avail, till I was treated for chronic chlamydia and in 3-4 weeks prostatitis was gone.

Wasn't that a song Groucho used to sing?

"Chlamydia, oh Chlamydia the walking encyclopedia, Chlamydia the tattooed lady."

That was my wedding song when I married the wicked witch of the west (my ex-wife)..

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
