Indications it may cause Pca. If so are we being tested for this and what are all the treatments we get affect it. Do these treatments for the cancer not for prostatitis cure prostatitis or do we still have it? BTW I still have a prostate and it has not been treated. The gland gets treated and now all infection is gone? Just wondering if this is something that has been overlooked.

prostatitis or any irritation in the prostate will cause a temporary rise in PSA. It has caused many to be alarmed. But antibiotics usually takes care of the prostatitis.

Years ago I saw a two different Urologist's and they had a tough time treating it. Not really sure it was gone as there were some signs I still had it. Then the demon prostate cancer appeared and there was no attention to the infection that may be still present. I think I am going to pursue this further.

It may be difficult separating the symptoms of prostatitis and prostate cancer.

PIN = the beginnings of abnormal cells in the prostate and is seen in some around 30. Unless prostatitis is seen then it unlikely to CAUSE cancer ..... it is yet to be seen if prostatitis PROMOTES cancer (which is different from CAUSES). As far as the scientific method is concerned, so far what we have (as far as I know) are observations of an association with the fact that Prostatitis causes inflammation and chronic inflammation is often not good for the body. As far as I know, more work needs to be done on this observation/association. Fire trucks are associated with (observed at) fires, but this does not mean they cause or increase the severity of fires.

there are no "indications" of prostatitis causing PCa. Yes, they occur in the same gland. There is no scientific evidence to support this claim. Like most cancers there are genetic, hormonal, environmental causes and links. A good response is to keep chronic inflammation at bay. There are many herbal potions that help with that.

I had a couple of difficult prostate infections that took awhile to resolve. Also, I think I may have had some mild prostatitis for most of my adult life before my PCa diagnosis. I think there may be a connection.

That is my thoughts. Reason why some of us get cancer and most do not.

I'm quoting rscic:Fire trucks are associated with (observed at) fires, but this does not mean they cause or increase the severity of fires.

The current lifetime risk of developing prostate cancer is 16.7% (1 in 6 men).

Mr. Lewicki how many of the 16.7% of the men had prostatitis. I am looking for something other than your thoughts. Some research would be nice.

I never heard the fire truck analogy before but it sure is a good one. Thanks

I cant take credit. rscic in this thread brought it up and I had heard it before from others as well.

Speaking of fire:

When it comes to sex women are like the fire---all the conditions have to be just right.

Men are like the firemen ready for action.

Or something like that. I am known to ruin jokes.

No Research. As I said my thoughts. I just think there will be someday a simple explanation for this cancer and all other cancers. Something like Dr. Salk and was it Polio. The reason for the post is do I still have Prostatitis and is it may be contributing to cancer recurring. Seeing OC tomorrow and will discuss this with her.

I understand and I am hoping for the best for you. Reading your bio you have been thru a lot. Been thru the wringer. Hope your MO/OC tomorrow has some good input and that you can feel some peace. Find some resolution.

I've been a little edgy lately and I don't understand why considering I am having a good response to treatment at the moment.

Hang in there. Here's again wishing the best for you.
