Black Cohosh has not been tested for hot flashes (vasomotor symptoms) in men, but it has been tested in a randomized clinical trial in women. "Black cohosh used in isolation, or as part of a multibotanical regimen, shows little potential as an important therapy for relief of vasomotor symptoms."

Perhaps what he is seeing in his practice is a placebo effect because he is communicating his expectations to his patients.
He is also incorrect that supplementing Vitamin D is beneficial. At 4000 IU per day (the dose he recommends), bone mineral density (BMD) decreased by 2.4%. The higher the dose, the more BMD decreased. Worse, calcium became too high in the blood and the urine with increasing Vitamin D dose.
