Black Cohosh has not been tested for hot flashes (vasomotor symptoms) in men, but it has been tested in a randomized clinical trial in women. "Black cohosh used in isolation, or as part of a multibotanical regimen, shows little potential as an important therapy for relief of vasomotor symptoms."

Perhaps what he is seeing in his practice is a placebo effect because he is communicating his expectations to his patients.

He is also incorrect that supplementing Vitamin D is beneficial. At 4000 IU per day (the dose he recommends), bone mineral density (BMD) decreased by 2.4%. The higher the dose, the more BMD decreased. Worse, calcium became too high in the blood and the urine with increasing Vitamin D dose.

I very much agree with the importance of both cardiovascular and weight-bearing exercise.

Perhaps you may wish to email him those links and ask him if he wants to retract his statements based on them.

Also, you might ask him to rebut this:

TA, I so appreciate the corrections you make to erroneous information that is presented as fact. It is a great service.

Even doctors at top institutions are not immune. Tomorrow, Darryl and I will be interviewing a doctor at Huntsman who found that patients are acting on erroneous info from the Internet. I plan to ask him about doctors too.

Thank you Darryl for sharing this video with us. I feel that Dr Geo provides the missing link that I was searching for. I appreciate his multi-faceted approach to creating what he calls an environment that is hostile to cancer proliferation.
