My husband had his first round of chemo last Tuesday. He had psa checked today it went up 11 points. Is a week to soon to see a difference? Very concerned actually petrified.

He y, that is great.. As chemo kills cells they dump PSA into the blood, Until the space after #4 and before #5 all you do is scare yourselves. Then you should see a decline that may continue for up to to a year if you are lucky.

Could you explain exactly what that means you dump psa into the blood. Does that mean the PSA will rise

Yes, that is the normal reaction to chemo that is working at the onset.... One place where higher PSA is actually good.

He had scans done right before they started the chemo.

Think of it as meeting a handsome guy for the first time....Blood Pressure rises and after a few dates it drops.....
