SEF Chemo
We spoke to Dr. Kenneth Matsumura in Berkeley re: SEF Chemo but we were not able to relocate there for the duration of the treatment. Seems promising though. My husband is currently being treated by Dr. Bob at Compassionate Oncology in LA and a NY doctor administers the protocol - which is a low-dose chemo - taxotere. It has not been without side effects - lots of nausea - but as long as he takes the anti-nausea meds he has been fine. I have posted his protocol on this site. He was young at diagnosis 53 - 779 PSA, Gleason 4+3. and was given 5 yeas - that was almost 6 years ago. It has been a journey with a lot of ups and downs but he is doing well.
We are so grateful for the information we have learned on this site.
I know one lady that went to Berkeley and did well with it . Stage four breast cancer survivor many years .
Hi. I was thinking of going for my stage 4 breast cancer. Do you know if she just did one course of treatments or does she have to go back?
I think she went back .
Would you be able to find out a bit more from her please? How far it had spread etc? It’s a big deal to go to California from the UK. You are the first person I’ve come across who knows about it.
My friend Edith was stage four and failed many conventional treatments . I havent seen her in two years though . I will try to find more info for you with in a few days , I’ll reply . Have agood day . Find some to put thinking about it out of your head daily . It all can become overwhelming . The fear and unknown. I’m focusing on the spiritual side also . Peace to you ....Scott in Tucson Az.
Thank you.
I will reply soon in a few days . Take care , thanks
Hi Toomanyquestions. I found this CBS news video that came out in March of this year about a triple negative breast cancer patient. It looks promising! idahonews.com/news/local/lo...
I looked at their website and it seems that prostate cancer is not their main target.
You could also try to convince your MO to use a two-week schedule with a lower dose. This should cause fewer side effects and may even be more effective according to this study:

We learned about SEF chemo from Dr. Khan, his former MO in Toronto at Medicor Cancer Centre, who oversaw a few rounds of oral DCA (which he couldn't tolerate due to side effects - although he did get a huge reduction in PSA).
Hi GP24. I found this ABC news clip from the Berkeley Institute's website for SEF Chemo. It looks like they cured a famous actor (William Hurt?) of stage IV d2 prostate cancer. berkeley-institute.com/abc-...
Yes I have been communicating with Dr M he seems quite eccentric. I am tempted to try it. What do you think?
I would just say do your research. Perhaps they will give you a list of patients who are willing to be contacted?
I'm also communicating with Dr M and am researching him now, that's how I found this forum. Waiting for reply from friend of actual patient as well.
How’s your research? Did you hear from the actual patient?
I meant from Lulu on this thread. I did some research on Dr M as well. During my research I read a lot about Dr Khan, who Dr M referred me to for advice. I haven't heard back. Apparently, they charge for emails and phone calls. That suprised me since I read so many wonderful things about him, but I don't know how they do things in Canada (where Dr Khan is located). I'm also looking into immunooncology and proton therapy.
