I finally got my magnseium glycinate which is supposed to help with sleep? I can not find the post where it was recommended and need to know a suitable dose. I bought powder so I can make any dose I need. I also learned that prednesone might be keeping me awake so I am taking it at noon.

magnesium glycinate
I don’t if it was me but I’d said I use magnesium glycinate at night to help with hot flashes. My naturopath said it does help with sleep as well. I take 240 mg at bedtime.
I assume it is best to take before bed, how long? the powder i bought has a little scoop which measures just about 500 mg so a not quite fill will be 400. i think it might get absorbed faster without a tablet or capsule and the stuff does not taste as bad as other stuff i am drinking it will not go in the automatic pill dispenser i just ordered but i think i can remember to drink it before bed. i got a $150 device for $50 or so on ebay. it does everything that i would do if i designed my own, great, have other things to do. i am not a clock or calendar person. i eat when i am hungry sleep when i am tired (when i can) so i lose track of time and pill schedules. i am not demented (well not very) but just never got into time constraints.
thanks, i used to fall asleep at the drop of a hat (where did that expression come from?) but now it takes me hours and i sleep very little. hot flashes are a big part of it. i took some last night and did not see any effect, might take a while or maybe i need more? will keep at it.
I use Mg Threonate. Added benefit is easier blood/brain barrier crossing, as far as I understand. Especially helpful if you brain Mg status is low. I use 144mg elemental but have used 50% more without stomach upset. Threonate is also a chelated form.
I fished for two days and I feel almost great. Rainbow trout tonight. No beer this time though I took about 500 mg (one scoop) of mag glycinate about two hours before bed. I did not have any hot flashes until maybe 6 AM. I am going to put some in my bedside water and sip it when I wake up. With a little lemon it is not that awful.
I've been taking 375mg magnesium tablets and they've certainly helped me sleep. Also I've reduced my visits to the toilet at night. On two nights I didn't have to urinate at all after going to bed. Really pleased with the results.
