Effects of adt on enlarged prostate

Will an enlarged prostate shrink the same as your testicles and penis when on adt therapy, using eligard and erleada?

Yes, ADT should shrink your prostate if you have BPH. However, if it is inflamed and causing blockage because of cancer there, it might not help.

Eligard gave me headaches, tiredness , shortness of breath and made me extremely irritable. Don't know if it shrunk my prostate as it had been removed a few years earlier. Will not use eligard again. Good luck with your cancer and God bless you.

I didn't have an enlarged prostate when I started on Eligard, but after 7 months on Eligard, both my RO and the 2nd urologist I saw at about the same time have said my prostate was shrunken. Testicles are about half the size they used to be, hard to tell if my penis has shrunk because it doesn't stand up to be measured anymore.

I don’t know if my father’s prostrate shrunk but after 2 months of leuprolide we removed his catheter (which was placed due to urinary issues) and he feels much better. The doctor did tell me ADT will shrink the prostrate but also that 2 months was too early for that.
