Does an enlarged prostate alter your PSA

Got my PSA numbers back for this month and was .8 compared to .7 last month, scans came back as no disease progression and no new Mets. Due to being on xgeva I am watching the calcium which was low, 8.6 so I have been increasing with a supplement and dairy products. The calcium went to 8.7, up .1 the same as the PSA reading , is there a correlation in there , I am on arbitrone since the middle of last December of 2020. I was hoping for a lower PSA number by now. I have an enlarged prostate thanks to being 70, the prostate shows no abnormalities on the last scan, will this throw off the PSA readings and show it higher than it really is ? I am on flo max and peeing normal now since last November when I had a cath for a week and started the maximum dose of flo max.

An enlarged prostate will not appreciably change your PSA while you are on hormone therapy.

Thank you, just a question and I thought you would know.

Can you explain what you mean by 'appreciably change'? Change from what?

I had a very enlarged prostate at diagnosis (230ml) 40 months ago. After some treatment (Firmagon and Docetaxel) it reduced in size in 6 months to 135ml. Still 4x the normal size. Hasn't been measured since, but I expect it is still enlarged. My PSA which started at 168 reached a nadir of 0.4 but never reached undetectable. When I asked the MO if this could be because my prostate was still intact and enlarged, she said 'yes'. Do you agree / not agree? Just wondering. Thanks for your opinion.

Sounds good to me. 0.4 is excellent - I don't really see why that would concern you.

I saw the oncologist today, bone and CT scans show no progression and he was happy with the .8 PSA readings as he says it is still low and the arbitrone is working, fight on warriors .

I endured 3 injections of Xgeva before the pain reached an level i could endure. Exreme bone and muscle pain. I stopped after the 3rd injection.

NOTE: I see "Prolia" added wording to the end of their recent Advertisement (TV) about the very same issue of Bone and Muscle intense bone and muscle as a serious and common side effect.

After years, the Company admits TRUTH,

I have been on xgeva since last December, 7 so far and 5 to go then every 3 months. No bone and muscle pain so count me lucky , it helps to protect, same with arbitrone, just intense hot flashes which I can handle.
