I'm 60 years old and was diagnosed with PCa at 06/06/2018: PSA 1000 and extensive pelvic metastasis, this is accurate as I'm reading my Dana-Farber treatment history report, obviously started ADT treatment. Then added Taxotere on 07/19/19, strategy of being aggressive to the fight.
So, on 02/20/2021, stopped all meds, because PSA is still undetectable, but my mind seems to get lost at times, is this because I'm 60 years old?
Or, did the PCa treatments contribute to my mental acuity issues?

I’m 75 , started with psa 1400-1600 …about the same time as you ..more or less.
My thought is that if you are playing tic-tat-toe with your brain cells and winning , at least, 6 out of 10 .. then you’re still doing ok. Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya
It’s probably hard to definitively say where diminished cognitive mental issues come from in geriatric patients. Obviously it could be from a multitude of sources … Bg treatments, bp meds, glucose meds .. many many other every day meds …..extremely powerful….life altering …. cancer treatment drugs …. normal old age. All the potential interactions … combined side effects … you name it. It’s a sticky stew of things that could contribute.
After 3 years I certainly have noticeable cognitive issues … but I’m still good to go …. I’m just guessing but I suspect my cancer will get me long before those get to critical mass ….
One of the best aspects of this group are the great guys like you and so many others …that just try to add a little friendship and support for everyone else to lean on if needed. That’s the name of that tune big guy. You’re the best brother.
Yayahahahaya yayahahahaya no kidding, scary isn’t it ? Dunno tho …. Sometimes a fresh, clean .. refreshing empty mind is a good thing. Sitting smiling at the brand new day ( 7 th time this morning) … goofy grin on my face, nothing but nothing going on up there ….. ah! What could be better ….. except a ice chest full of Dos Equis and a bag of fresh limes ( maybe my Margarita machine dunno ).
'Brain fog' is not uncommon with ADT. You have stopped ADT, but the drug lingered a while. Importantly, testosterone [T] takes months to recover. Do you know your baseline T - or current T?
If problems persist after T is >600 ng/dL, say, you should investigate non-PCa causes.
My morning coffee ritual at 5 am is a Kakuro puzzle:
With level four, I struggle sometimes. It's the struggle that one needs, IMO.
I used to do the NY Times crossword every day. Monday is easy - Saturday is tough. What I find with ADT is that I sometimes have difficulty remembering words. I don't even bother trying the Saturday crossword these days, though I should make the effort.
In the back of my mind is that I had a MyHeritage DNA test years ago, to try to expand my family tree on my father's side. Nothing very special, medically, about my DNA, except that I supposedly have a higher risk for Alzheimer's.
{Have you heard the old joke? A man goes to his doctor and the doc says that he has some bad news. Doc: "First, you have prostate cancer." Man: "Oh, that's terrible news." Doc: "Second you have Alzheimer's." Man: "Oh, that's terrible news - but at least I don't have prostate cancer."}
I will never be able to play bridge with you. In my group none of us can even remember who dealt. We use unusual conventions. Pause/pass. Means guy has 11-12 points and thought he could open but can't. Schvitz opening: guy has 22+ points and starts schvitzing. Playing together with same guys for 47 years. We aren't masters-we're disasters. But have lots of fun.
Hey guy! It is both. I too just turned 60 . I’ve been rowing with pc since 3-15.. I think that all geriatric conditions are speed up on us by treatments and no t. I took a hit to cognition and short term memory my first years .. frustrating.. Keep rowing the boat amigo . Try to keep bones strong .. Pc has aged me quickly ..due to mod med we are still here .. thats a miracle 🚣♀️ 🚣♂️🚣♂️🚣♂️🚣♂️
I do hear you, the meds have us here today and tomorrow, my T is moving up from zero, albeit slowly, perhaps slow velocity provides a chance to gauge If progression.
My PSA at 02/18/21 was <0.02, stopped taking meds at this time, 05/19/21 PSA at 0.09, concerning?
I don't see many people touching on about the arthritis that seems to be made a lot worse because of the no testosterone why do some people don't work with their hands they work with their brains but the arthritis in my hands is another matter
A trifecta of comedy to us kids back then . I had three old brothers that acted like the stooges and tortured me the kid a bit ,with the stooge techniques..
I had 'brain fog' during ADT - it cleared a few months AFTER I quit ADT - a typical side effect of some forms of ADT ......
I'm 55, so I'm not too much younger than you. I haven't noticed a decline in mental acuity but I have notice an overall lack of interest in doing things. Recall and comprehension is the same as it was before pca.
I feed him Dove Dark Chocolate eggs...it keeps him calm
I had no mental acuity problems. However, I did force myself to do crossword problems every day and play duplicate bridge every month. Plus I read every day. Keep the mind working is my watchword.
As expected, I suffered temporary short-term memory loss and not long-term memory loss after being on a heart-lung machine.
At some point some should consider early onset of dementia possibilities.

After almost 4 and a half years, remembering names, facts and what I just said are just some of my challenges. Will be 71 Friday. Was sharp as a whip when I started, now I just stand around and chew my cud.
Okay I'm on Lupron and e r l e a d a and I have a definite decline I've said it before I feel like everything is in the present I can surely remember what I wore to school in high school but it's like you have to reach back for it and there's some things you just forget and yeah they can say it's old age but I think the Lupron and then the e r l e a d a which I guess Works actually in the brain h e n c e the reason you fall and trip add assorted other evils could be due to that fact I'm sure ta could expand on how it permeates the brain I mean I can still tune a piano but I can't tuna fish
Good work. Re: learning Yiddish- a bisel here, a bisel there. My parents spoke Yiddish in the house thinking I didn't know they were going to shtup that night. Abi gezunt.
